Alice opened her eyes in the dark. Her first reaction when she woke up was to look at the calendar hanging on the wall.
Two weeks.
Two long weeks, and Loki hadn't even tried to contact her. Her stomach and heart clenched at the same time. How could he give up on her, just like that ?
It was the same question she'd been asking herself for days now. Every morning was the same.
After each day, Loki's absence became an evidence. It felt as if someone was dead. Alice wanted to spend every moment, every second with him. Sometimes, she even imagined she could go back in time and simply enjoy their last kiss.
Going back to university was the only thing that kept the young girl going. It was until people started talking behind her back. At first, she thought it was because she'd missed a few classes. But one morning, a girl she barely knew elbowed her,
"Hey."
"Hey ?" Alice shyly replied.
"You don't remember me, do you ? I'm Cassandre. We met in Mr. Laufeyson's office."
Narrowing her eyes, Alice had to think really hard and suddenly, it came back to her. Oh, right. Plastic-Cassandre.
"Oh. Hello."
"So..." Cassandre smiled, "You dropped Laufeyson's class ?"
Alice shifted on her seat,
"No, I didn't," she frowned, "I just missed a few classes. I have... health issues."
Cassandre cocked an eyebrow,
"Yeah, I noticed. We all noticed."
Alice blushed, not sure she'd heard well,
"What did you notice ?" she scoffed.
"Honestly, it's hard to miss. What's more mysterious is who the father is."
The young girl gasped, her cheeks turning crimson red.
"I'm not..."
But Cassandre wasn't listening anyway.
How dared she ?
Heart racing in her chest, Alice discreetly left the auditorium, still holding her books in her shaking arms. How the hell could they all know ?
Alice stopped in front of a window and took a quick glance at her reflection. It wasn't that obvious... Or was it ?
Before she could answer to these questions roaming in her head, a loud voice startled her.
"Miss Parker ?"
For a moment, her heart stopped and she turned around. The Dean was standing behind her and he didn't look very happy.
"In my office, now."
Alice barely nodded and followed him through the corridor.
Oh God. This couldn't be good.
As she sat in front of his desk, Alice took great care of hiding her belly, crossing her legs and arms around it. The old man shook his head in dismay and leaned back, releasing a long sigh,
"I guess you know why you're here, Miss Parker."
Alice slightly shrugged but then, she decided to put her cards on the table. She sat correctly, the slight bump showing under her shirt.
"Yes, sir. But I don't think being pregnant is a crime. I'm trying to adjust to this new situation and I know I've missed..."
Before she could finish her sentence, the door opened behind her and Alice almost fainted. An oddly familiar, fresh masculine scent engulfed her senses, causing her heart to speed up. She didn't even need to turn around to feel Loki's deep green irises piercing her soul.
