I woke up in a hospital bed, surrounded by a curtain. I could faintly hear people talking outside the light blue curtain. "Nathaniel, I understand you're worried about her. She's your erasthai, and she doesn't have her mate yet, but she will be okay." An unfamiliar voice says.

Erasthai? What does that mean? "Dr. Price, I'm sorry. I'm just really worried. I've never done this before." Nathaniel whimpers. I quietly chuckle to myself.

I suddenly hear the curtain being moved and I close my eyes and pretend I'm asleep.

"You're going to be okay, my little erasthai, I promise nothing will harm you." His warm breath fans my cheek, then leaves. I wanted to grab hold of him and let him hold me, make me warm. I was so cold, and for some reason, I felt like I had hyperthermia when his breath left my cheek.

"She'll be okay, Nathaniel. She's in good hands." The doctor says.

"Thank you doctor. Call me if she wakes up, or..." His voice faltered. "Or, if she gets any worse." I could feel their eyes on me, and it took everything in me not to jump up and yell, "look! I'm awake! I'm right here! I'm not gonna die!" I had to stay asleep. I just had too.

When I heard the curtain move, I knew they were leaving, so I waited until I couldn't hear it rattle anymore, then I opened my eyes. I sat up, scanning the small makeshift room. It was sort of like a hospital, in a way.

I was wearing a plain white nightgown and there was an IV in my arm. That's when I started to feel nauseous. "Woah." I whispered. I just shook it off and refused to get sick again. I needed to get out of here. What was the time?

I slowly slid the needle of the IV out of my arm, and slid off of the bed. The floor was cold and I already missed the warmth of the blankets, the warmth of Nathaniel's breath. Which had smelled of chocolate and mint.

I tiptoed to where the doctor and Nathaniel had left just a few minutes ago. I slowly stepped through the opening and I was met with a clock, which read 11:47 am. Which was 24 minutes after I was born. I was able to find my mate.

I looked down the hallway, which my makeshift room was at the end of. I slowly started walking down the hall, tiptoeing ever so carefully. I looked down at the floor when I stepped on something. I ran my hand through my blue to purple ombré hair, keeping it back as I bent down to pick whatever it was, up.

It was a small necklace with a golden moon charm on it. I held onto it as I continued down the hall. When I reached a door, I looked out it's window. It showed a house. But, much bigger. And it was full of lycans. I quietly opened the door, and stepped out. Looking around, I spotted an exit. I stayed close to the wall, avoiding people's eyes, and walking as fast as I could.

Once I reached the door. I pushed it open. Outside, there was a large garden with child lycans playing around. There was a stone path which led to a paved road surrounded by trees. Many trees.

I stepped outside, and sunlight hit my face. I instantly felt better. I kept walking, trying to avoid the children, and the rocks on the ground. Only then did I notice how hungry I was.

Come on, I'll find some wild blueberries to eat or something. I need to get out of here.

As soon as I reached the road, I heard footsteps behind me. I quickly turned around, and a little girl was standing there. She had blonde hair, which was tied back in two pigtails. Her brown eyes shimmered in the sunlight and there was a small smile on her tiny lips.

"Who are you?" She asked. I got down in my knees so that I was level with her.

"Janessa. Who are you?" I asked the little girl.

"Ivory." She giggled. "You're pretty. I like your hair." She blushed, as if embarrassed.

I smiled and tapped her nose. "Thank you. You are pretty too. I like your smile."

She then hid her smile and skipped away. As I watched her run back to her friends, I stood up. Only to be met with a face I knew all too well.

I backed away. "Stop. You've almost killed me several times today. Why me? Samuel, just leave me alone."

He looked hurt. "I-I'm sorry." He grabbed my forearm before I could walk away anymore.

I breathed deeply as I felt it again. "Stop Samuel, you're doing it again." He let go of my arm and stepped away. Suddenly, it was gone. "Better." I whispered. "You need to learn how to control it. Or else someone's blood is going to be on you're hands. Literally. Because if you killed someone like this, I'm pretty sure they'd explode."

He and I laughed quietly. Then we were interrupted. "Samuel. Get away from her." Nathaniel sounded mad, but his protectiveness gave me butterflies.

"It's okay, Nath. She's fine." He admitted, putting up his hands.

He quickly pushed past Samuel and looked at me worryingly. "Is he hurting you? Are you okay? Any more bruises?" He kept asking questions.

"I'm okay." I laughed at him.

"Are you sure?" He asked.

"Why are you so worried, Nathaniel? Not like I'm your mate."

He hesitated, and then I remembered. I'm Nathaniel's erasthai. Which is basically like a mate, but everything is heightened.

He looked at the ground, and Samuel looked at him. "Actually..." Nathaniel admitted.

"Wait? She's your erasthai?" Samuel asked, stunned.

I was silent. "I need to leave. N-now. I still haven't found my mate. I-I'm not ready." I paced back and forth.
