I woke with a start. I looked at my surroundings, not noticing any of them. I was atop a bed rid of sheets. The walls around me were a dull beige and the floor was grey carpet. I lifted my shirt as memories flooded my mind. Again, for the first time in a while, my stomach was a sea of black and blue. I didn't understand why he would choose to do this now. I thought he had it under control after I confronted him about it at that house. The lycan pack house.
Suddenly, I had a feeling I knew where I was. I got up off the bed, not feeling dizzy for once, and moved toward the window in the room. When I looked outside, sure enough, I recognized the front lawn. Tiny lycan children were waddling about chasing and tackling their friends.
The door creaks open and I turn, startled by the noise, but no one is there. Suddenly, I feel two arms wrap around my waist and I jump almost six feet in the air. "Did I scare you, love?" His nickname for me sent shivers down my spine and sparks ignited where our skin met.
"K-kind of." I was stuttering because I felt nervous with him. But, at the same time I felt so safe in his arms. He was also really strong, his biceps showed it.
"Thanks, love." Nathaniel spoke easily like he had done it a thousand times before. He didn't sound nervous at all. "We lycans can hear the thoughts of our mates." He turned me around in his grasp, picked me up, then sat me on the window ledge.
"Can I hear your thoughts?" I asked, looking him in his chocolate brown eyes. Butterflies still roamed in my stomach, but they had decreased as I had felt safe with Nathaniel.
"Yes, you can." he says as he traces my thighs gently. "But, are you sure you want to hear mine? They can get," He smiles up at me, "inappropriate." I laughed softly at him.
"How are you?" He asked me after a while of silence. I looked down at him and he growled protectively. He grabbed me from the ledge and placed me on my back on the bed. "Who made you sad." He growled out. I didn't notice I looked sad. I was happy to be here and safe with Nathaniel but, I was unhappy for some sudden reason.
"No one. I'm feeling great. Thanks for asking." I didn't even believe myself.
"Don't lie, kitten." He demanded.
"I don't know what's wrong with me." I say, looking away from him. "I want to be happy. With you. But there's something blocking that."
"Or someone." Nathaniel groaned, pushing himself off the bed and walking to the other side of the room. "I should've known you wouldn't get over them so easily." Nathaniel paced back and forth, running a hand through his already messed hair.
"What do you mean?" I ask him.
"Darius and Kaydon. After all, you were with Darius first, and then you chose Kaydon over me. I'm sure you still have feelings for those wolves." Nathaniel growled softly.
"I don't have feelings for either of them. Darius is a killer, and do you know what Kaydon said to me before he rejected me? I accepted the rejection because of what he said." As soon as I said that I regretted it.
"Because of what he said?" Nathaniel growled louder than ever and I flinched so hard.
"I didn't mean it. I swear to the moon goddess. I said it wrong." I spoke to him, quietly rushing over to where he stood.
"I can't believe myself!" Nathaniel shouted. I grabbed his arm but he just shook it off. "I, Nathaniel-" I cut him off by thinking about him. In the dirtiest way possible.
"You can't reject me, baby." I whispered to him. I bit my lip and looked up into his eyes. "I'm your erasthai. You cannot reject me, pup." I said. I dragged a finger up his chest and up his neck. When I reached his chin, I stopped. I grabbed his face gently and moved it down so that he was looking at me.
"You never listen, Nathaniel. I try to tell you the truth but all you believe are the lies. I don't have feelings for anyone except you. I hate Darius, the killer. And I hate Kaydon, the rejector." I admitted to him.
"I'm sorry." He whispers. This was supposed to be a new start but for some reason I'm hung up on the past.
He leaned down to kiss me and as our lips brushed each others, he whispered again, "I'm so sorry, love." Then he kisses me.
He lifts me from the ground and I put my legs around his waist. He maneuvers toward the window ledge and he lays me on it. I run my hand through his hair as he runs his hand up my back. I grasp at his shirt as he trails kisses down my neck and I hold back a moan as he kisses a certain sensitive spot.
"May I?" He whispers against my skin. His breath is warm as it fans my neck and I want so bad for him to never leave.
"You guys mark?" I whisper moan. I'm still in my high.
"Yes, love." He speaks as he continues to kiss that spot.
"Go ahead." His teeth tear through my skin and at first, I am overcome in pain but, as soon as it comes it's gone and replaced by pleasure.
He kisses the wound and pulls away to stare at my face. "How did I ever become so lucky?" His brown eyes glistened with love.
"You didn't." I spoke. "I did."
He smiled immediately.
"Nathaniel!" We both hear yelling coming from down the hall. Samuel bursts through the door. A wave of domination encircles us but pain does not accompany it.
"You did it!" I yelled at Samuel. He nodded his head and smiled, but his smile soon fell.
"I didn't come here for that." He says seriously.
"Sam?" Nathaniel speaks, almost growling at him.
"It's Cas." Samuel paused for a moment and glanced at me cautiously. "Rogues..." he paused again. "attacked in the back training fields and got the upper hand."
"Samuel?" I asked him. "Are you sure they're rogues?"
Samuel shook his head and looked at the ground. "Then who are they?" I half screamed.
"Alpha Kaydon and rogue Alpha Darius."
