I ran past Nathaniel and Samuel. I didn't care that they were chasing after me, trying to grab me, calling my name. I needed to get out there. I ran downstairs, pushing past warrior lycans and out the back door. There, standing in front of me were Kaydon and the pack, along with a pack of rogues and Darius.
"Well, lookie here. We've got the Luna lycan." Darius spoke condescendingly. He took slow, long steps toward me. "Sorry about your lycan friend. What was his name? Casper? Well, whatever. Your lycan boyfriend will be next, except he won't live. Unless you turn yourself in."
"Wait, hold on. Did he?" Kaydon moved closer to me. He looked at my neck where Nathaniel marked me. "This bitch is marked." Kaydon growled.
I didn't know what was holding Nathaniel and Samuel up. And I needed them right now, or else I'd have to reveal my secret and I'm not ready for that.
I put my hand to my neck, and I fingered that moon necklace I found on the ground of the lycan house when I was first brought here.
"Wait. How the hell are you marked? Lycans can't mark anyone except other lycans. Does that mean.." suddenly, it started to rain. Kaydon looked up at the sky then back at me.
He took a couple steps toward me then grabbed my throat. "You cannot be with that scum of a lycan." He growled.
I grabbed Kaydons wrist as he lifted me up off the ground. "You don't get to reject me then come back saying I can't be with my erasthai. I love him and you cannot change that." I twisted Kaydons wrist with strength I didn't know I had and he dropped me to the ground.
"We'll be back. And we'll burn this fucking house to the ground!" Kaydon screamed as he rubbed his wrist. He shifted and so did his pack, Darius and the rogues followed pursuit, then they ran off into the woods.
Where the hell are Nathaniel and Samuel? I ask myself as I rub my neck. I stood up from the ground and turned around to head back inside. When I got inside, everything was chaos.
Lycans we're running around in panic. "Hey! Everyone quiet down!" Everyone immediately shut up and turned to my direction.
"Yes Luna!" Everyone shouted at the same time. Luna? I didn't have time to freak out over this.
"Where is Nathaniel?" I asked. My voice was strong and everyone flinched as I used it.
One of the lycans spoke. "With Caspian and Samuel in the medical unit."
I groaned. "Thank you. Now, Kaydon and Darius are gone, but they are going to come back. We need to protect each other. Watchers get to your posts. Warriors help get everyone who cannot fight into the safe house. Report back to me when you're finished."
"Yes Luna!" Everyone spoke. Then they ran off to do what they were told.
"Time to find Nathaniel." I said to myself.
It took me several minutes to find out where the medical unit was, and it would've taken me longer but the huge sign above the door gave it away. It read MEDICAL UNIT (WATCH YOUR STEP) with a black and yellow stripe of tape under the writing. I looked down and the same tape was on the one step that the sign said to look out for.
I walked up the step and opened the door then started looking in every room for Caspian, Samuel, and Nathaniel. The walls began feeling familiar. The faces and the smell too. "I was here before." I said to myself, leaning against the wall. I felt tired and out of breath. "What's wrong with me?" I could barely walk and there were no doctors in the unit, from what I could see. I needed someone.
I began to slide down the wall. I felt so cold. "Nathaniel." I whispered and began to crawl down the hallway. "Nathaniel.." I could barely speak. "Nath.. please..." my voice broke as I collapsed on the ground. I wiped my nose and blood was apparent on my skin. "What the hell?" I whispered.
My eyes wanted to close but I fought them. "Nath..." I couldn't move anymore. I was so weak and vulnerable, I hated it.
Suddenly Nathaniel appeared from around the corner. He wasn't facing me though. He was facing the hall, he was walking backwards. "Nath..!" I whisper shouted with everything I could.
He snapped his head in my direction but his eyes softened at the sight of me. "Janessa?" He asked. Then ran at me. He picked me up and immediately I felt warm. I cuddled up to him and he spoke to me. "You're freezing. What happened? Are you bleeding?" He ran into the closest room and laid me on the empty bed. He went to leave but I grasped his hand with everything I had, which was barely anything and he looked back at me.
"Don't leave me. I'm s-sorry." I shivered.
"My love-"
"No, I hurt you and I am always going to be sorry for that. Now Kaydon and Darius are going to be attacking your pack because of me. It's my fault. I should never have been born." With my other hand I reached up and grabbed the necklace around my neck. The one I found here.
Then with a blast of cold air that came out like a wave of ice from my necklace, all of my surroundings disappeared. It was just a white void. I was kneeling on the ground, sitting on my calves.
Then a woman about the age of thirty appeared in front of me. Her long brown hair was flowing in wind that I couldn't feel. She wore a shiny silver tiara that matched her floor length gown and her silver belt that dangled tiny little moons. She didn't wear a necklace, instead gestured to mine.
"I see you've found my jewelry young hybrid."
