Name Poem
Jessica
Jessica;
It is my name.
It doesn't mean much,
It is just something I hear
Way too much.
My dad said he liked the name,
He said he thinks it to be beautiful.
My mom said she had a doll
Named so, when she was a child.
I don't get what's special.
The name is too common, along
With shorter forms such as
Jesse, Jessie, Jess...
I used to believe that it looked like
A "princess name" because the "ica"
All I wanted for so long was to have
A more unique name, but no one
Ever listened to unoriginal Jessica.

My thoughts have changed since I wrote this poem. I feel like more people listen to me now. I wrote all of these poems (except one, which I'll say in the A/N of it's own) in my Short Stories and Creative Writing class. (2011-2012, first semester. Yes, I was a freshman when I wrote these poems.) If your school has this class, and you haven't taken it, I would suggest you do so, it's a great class. I'm sure that my writing would have been a lot better if I would've taken it my senior year, instead of just last year. It was a great class anyway. :)
