Samantha's POV
My feet dipped into the warm water back at the beach house later that same night. The tide rolled in and out, wetting my feet for a few seconds before it receded back into the ocean. The light material of my dress was picked up by the wind and flowed in the cool breeze. I had to brush my hair behind my ear so it wouldn't fall in front of my face while the other hand was held out in front of my eyes, admiring the rock that now took up the space on my left hand. What a truly beautiful ring it was.
I was joined by Niall momentarily who was returning from retrieving something from the house. His blank pants were rolled up halfway up his shins to refrain from getting his pants wet from the water. His suit jacket was discarded in the house and his white dress shirt was all the way unbuttoned except for one stubborn button that I was determined to undo before the night was through. He was carried something in his left hand that looked to be in the shape of some kind of envelope.
"I've been wanting to give you this since the minute I got down on one knee but wanted to wait for the right moment to give it to you. It's a letter from your brother. He insisted on writing it for you the minute I brought up proposing to you."
He handed me the letter and the slightest feeling of homesickness rushed over me at the thought of connecting with something from home. We've be on this trip for almost a month now and as much as I'm having the absolute time of my life, there's still a part of me that misses home. I'm so used to seeing Sara everyday that being away for so long made me miss the comforts of home. Even if I tried not to worry about the things that might be happening when I'm not there, a part of me still did.
I sat down on the dry sand and tucked my dress under my legs before sliding oped the closed envelope with my finger and retrieving the letter.
Dear Samantha,
If your reading this, it means Niall finally got up the courage to ask my little sister to marry him. Samantha I truly couldn't be happier for the both of you. When Niall came and asked me for my blessing to marry you, I felt both honored and full of excitement. It meant a lot to me that Niall took the time to consider me in this way. Because your my sister, I know you've already thought of this but I feel its necessary to mention. Mum and Dad would without a doubt be so proud of you. They would have loved Niall. You've come such a long way in your life and I also couldn't be more proud. You are truly one of the strongest people I know. I wish you and Niall the happiest of engagements and an even happier marriage- you two are made for each other. With all this being said, I hope you enjoy the rest of your vacation with your new fiance and I'll see you when you get home. Love you
Love, Liam
I folded the letter up and put it back into the envelope. It meant a lot to me that Liam approved and supported Niall and I's decision to get married. Hearing Liam mention my parents made it feel reassuring that the feelings I was experiencing about going through this important part in my life without them was okay and that I knew they were both happy and proud of me.
"Thank you, Niall, I really needed this letter. A perfect way to end this amazing day." I reached out and embraced him in a quick moment of silence. Of course, Niall had to take the opportunity to change the mood.
"I can think of a better way to end the day." He whispered into my ear, raising the hairs on the back of my neck and a shiver ran through me. He leant forward and began peppering my neck with light kisses, knowingly teasing me.
"What did you have in mind?" I asked, already aware of what he desired but I wanted to hear him say it. I wove my fingers into his hair to pull him closer as he worked on a sensitive spot below my ear and his hands wandered further below my waist. I opened the final button holding his shirt closed with trembling fingers and eagerly smoothed my palms over his chest.
