Purple. Evelyn reminds me of the color purple.

Nothing about her really explains why I feel this way, or why I really think this way, but to me purple is a good, calm color.

It took her a few hours of convincing for her to let me do, but she finally gave up and agreed.

"Is this going to burn?" She questioned as I mixed up the bleach powder and developer in a plastic bowl.

"A little bit, probably." I admitted. She groaned, huffed and leaned back in the kitchen chair I provided her with. Thankfully it was just her and I in the house today, after she had spent the night.

"I've never done anything to my hair before."

"I know, but trust me, it'll look cool." She just sighed and looked into the big mirror in front of her and I, making eye contact with me. I smirked at her and put down the mixing bowl to start separating sections of her hair.

Her stare was captivating. Thick, dark eyelashes framed her eyes and just made it so damn hard to look away.

It didn't take long until I was done. "Are you ready?" I questioned, laughing. She just huffed and nodded her head slowly. Evie was very reluctant about this, but still, I knew she didn't detest it as much as she was making it seem.

I'm no professional by any means, but I have done my hair enough times to get a general idea of it. "How 'bout I let you paint my nails after this?" She considered the offer and then smiled and nodded again.

Taking the very bottom section of her hair, I began lathering it in bleach, leaving the roots brown for now until her hair was almost done processing.

"Can we listen to music?" She questioned.

"Duh."

She pulled her phone out of her bra because all she was really wearing was a large plain white t-shirt and a pair of my boxers. There was no doubt in my mind that she looked absolutely wonderful in a state of relaxation. Sure, she looked beautiful when she dressed up like when she did on her birthday, but she was just as lovely like this.

As I was coating her hair thoroughly, I also took a few glances down at her phone to see what music she was picking. She scrolled through her Apple music app and stopped suddenly.

"You know what, why don't you sing to me?" She asked while batting her eyelashes. There's no way I could say no to that face, even if I tried.

I groaned, pretending to be inconvenienced by the question. "Ugh," I finished covering the bottom part of her hair and then unclipped the next layer up. "What song do you want me to sing?"

She pondered for a moment.

"Nothing To You, pleaseee." She begged. I smiled again and just focused on finishing bleaching her hair.

As I worked, I began humming the intro to the song. "I used to dream of you. . ." I began. "I use to lose my sleep for you—But now I see right through, and everybody wanna fuck with me but ion fuck with you. . ." She closed her eyes while I sang.

I was on the last layer of her hair when I looked down at her phone, and she pulled up Snapchat. "Wanna take a picture with me?" Evelyn questioned. I had no problems with it, so I said sure.

Raising her phone to a higher angle, she was able to capture her and I perfectly. Before she hit the button, I pressed my lips to her forehead.

. . .

"Holy. Fucking. Shit."

"You like?" I questioned her, watching her reaction to her new bright violet hair.

"I. . . Yes, I fucking love it Gus!" She squealed excitedly and whipped around to pull me into a bone crushing hug.

I wrapped my arms around her just as tight and breathed in her fresh scent, feeling my heart swell with. . . whatever this feeling is. I just want to hug her all the time, it feels good. Better than sex, although sex is pretty nice—My legs feel like jello when she holds me.

It's an overwhelming feeling, like a full body experience. She's attractive, but I know it's not lust; I've felt that for her before, and this isn't it. It's like seeing a really cute puppy or a chubby, happy baby; you want to squeeze it as hard as you can and just gush about how cute it is for hours.

"I'm so glad I let you do this, thank you for making me look so cool," She scanned my face carefully "Can I paint you nails now?" I nodded my head with a smirk and went back to my room to grab the red nail polish that I wore frequently.

We went out to the kitchen to take a seat at the counter in the middle of the decent sized room. Sitting across from each other, I just kept thinking about how happy I was for her to be here with me.

As she got down to business with painting my nails, I stared at her bright purple hair. It made me laugh on the inside because I'm actually surprised she's never dyed her hair before, but also because she looks like an eggplant.

Hehe.

Suddenly, the door unlocked and a friendly face came strolling in.

Bexey.

We've kind of been estranged lately and I'm not sure if it's because of the thing with Benjamin or if it's because of some other. . . reason, that I would not even like to think of as a possibility.

"Hey, Evelyn—Hey, Gus." He greeted my—technically—girlfriend and then me. Grocery bags hanging from both arms, he looked like he was struggling a bit. Evelyn broke focus for a few seconds to wave at him but then turned her attention back to my nails.

"Need some help?" I questioned the blue haired man, trying not to make a big deal out of the fact that Evie had not changed out of my shirt and boxers.

"Nope, thank you though." For some reason the vibe in the room felt awkward, but Evelyn wasn't being her usually talkative self. For being someone who has no friends, she sure knows how to start a conversation and talk. . . for hours.

Her not greeting him back with words wouldn't be something anyone else batted an eye at, but because she hasn't done that any other time; I somehow am concerned with probably no reason to be.

"Whatcha doin' there?" Bex asked Evelyn.

"Painting Gussie's nails, don't they look good?" He broke out into a full wheeze laugh because of her calling me Gussie.

"Shut up, dude." I joked with him playfully and he just kept laughing. Evelyn's shoulders slumped a little bit and she returned her focus back to the red paint. Her demeanor changed in the matter of three seconds—What happened?
