"Motorola phone, I ain't goin' home. I won't go to work, mama hate me and I know it though. I'm a bad kid with a bad hoe. With a fast whip, hit the gas, I'm an asshole. Drive by at 125, Drive by at 125. Fly by at 125, I'ma die, I ain't even 25."

I stared out at the faces of the people I love dearly and hold close to my heart, amongst many people I didn't recognize even though I've been going to this school since I was a freshman. I wasn't lying when I said I didn't know who the hell these people were, even most of my classmates besides the people I chit chatted with in certain classes.
On the left side of my father there was my three aunts; Amanda, Leanne and Katherine. On the right side of my mother was my aunt Danielle, my uncle Don and my cousin Davey. In the row behind them was Gus, Sarah and Bexey. My mom was taking selfies with everyone, probably to upload to her Instagram later. She doesn't get to see her siblings much at all so it's really cool that everyone's got together just for me. My dad's sisters all live really close to us but we still rarely see them, so it's good they're here too. I'm assuming all of their significant others and kids are already at our house for the 'after party' my mom is throwing for me.
Waiting for my principal to call my name was like waiting for the whale in my now reoccurring dream. I know it's going to happen, I almost dread it but at the same time I know it's never nearly as bad as it seems.
"Evelyn Woods!" My principal called out my name. I took a deep breath and began walking towards the middle of the stage, my black gown flowing behind me elegantly. I've never felt like this in my life, not even when I turned eighteen. I'm really starting the rest of my life now and I honestly have no idea what I'm going to do with it. All I know for sure is that I'll have Gus there with me and that's really important.
. . .
"Nice party, Debbie." My uncle Donnie praised my mother. They're the closest even though they both really love my aunt Dani a lot. They're twins so they just have a really special bond, plus they're ten years older than Dani so they have more of a parental feeling towards her, having to grow up really quickly to take care of her because their parents weren't really there. I don't know much about my maternal grandparents besides the fact they gave my mom and her siblings up to the system. Thankfully whatever foster homes they went to, they always allowed them all to stay together.
Seeing my family from Michigan doesn't happen almost ever but I'm glad they're all here, even though my uncle is a raging alcoholic. He tries his best but sometimes I'm really not surprised Davey turned out as troubled as he did. His mother is also an addict but she's in recovery and doing pretty well from what I hear. She left my uncle when Davey was eight and they tried to coparent as well as they could while both dealing with their active addictions, but it never worked as well as they had hoped it would.
