The weekend went by super quickly. I barely had time to register that it was here until I was woken by Cody's alarm at 6:15. I sighed and decided to get up to turn it off, knowing I wouldn't be able to sleep again. "Cody wake your ass up." I shut off his dumb alarm and rubbed my tired eyes. I was up most of the night, with reoccurring nightmares. "What the hell do you want?" He groaned. "We have classes in an hour and a half." He lifted his head off his pillow and glared at me through slited eyes. "Fine. But I call the first shower." I rolled my eyes at his childishness. "I showered last night." He shrugged and went into the bathroom. I hoped to be out before he even got through half his shower. I quickly got dressed and hoisted my backpack on my back. I decided to skip breakfast but get coffee before going to class. I applied the last bit of my makeup and hurriedly left the room, making sure my key is around my neck.

I rushed down the hallway toward the Café. I saw Ashley and Rian standing by their door, probably waiting for more of their friends. I was already down the hallway when I heard their laughter leave that hallway. I hadn't talked to Rian since I ran out of his room Saturday night. I didn't leave my room at all Sunday, luckily Cody didn't bother me too much. I got into the coffee line and kept my head down, playing on my phone. Mom texted me last night, saying good luck on my first day. I thanked her and before I knew it, I am at the front of the line. I quickly made my coffee and rushed out again, trying to avoid face to face contact with anyone. I still had to collect my schedule from the Dean's office. It was about a 10 minute walk and I have 40 minutes before classes start. I walked quicker than normal, making the 10 minute walk, a 5 minute one. "How can I help you?" The receptionist asked when I pushed the door open. "I'm Amelia Getter, here for my schedule." She hummed and started to go through paper on her desk. "Ah, Mrs. Getter, how're you liking our school?" I played with the lid of my coffee and stared at the wall behind her desk. "It's breathtaking, though I am a little confused to why I have to share a room with the opposite sex." She nodded and looked at me with a small smile. "We had so many fights over roommates and such. You are allowed to switch out if you want, or even stay with a partner." I heard a door open and I looked up, seeing a man with messy black hair step into the room. "Ah Mrs. Getter is it?" I nodded and swallowed thickly, "Yes sir." He chuckled and held out his hand. "Please call me Gerard or Dr. Way." I nodded hesitantly, feeling more nervous than before. "Is Cody treating you well?" I shrugged. "He's uh...icy I guess." Dr. Way nodded in agreement. "I was hoping that putting you with him, he'll be more happier and less angry." I froze slightly, confusion coursing through me. "Why me?" His face became unreadable. "We read why you moved here, your best friend killed himself yes?" I stiffly nodded, trying to fight the tears.

"Cody is bullied and that makes him angry. He's been found doing things that even the saddest person wouldn't do." I felt sadness bubble up from my core. "Gerard, just show her to her classes. They began just a few minutes ago." Dr. Way motioned for me to follow him. We walked down the hall and to the biggest part of the school. "You have Rian Dawson in every one of your classes, get him to help you around." I sighed and nodded, not looking at him. He opened the door and pulled me inside. "Mr. Iero, this is our new student Amelia. Make sure she has her student escort, Mr. Dawson show her around." He left with a wink at the teacher. "Well Amelia, you can sit in between Cody and Alex, Rian you heard him." I hesitantly sat at the desk placed in between the two and Cody stared at me in wonder or hatred, I couldn't tell. "What happened to you Saturday?" I turned my head toward Alex and his eyebrows pulled together in confusion. "I got sick." I felt dirty for lying. "Okay." He turned away from me and stared at the board. "This is Advanced 10th grade History." Mr. Iero looked at me, meaning he was adressing me. I reached into my backpack and pulled out a notebook with neat handwriting on the front. My heart felt as if it was being squeezed. I sucked in a breath of air and looked down at my shaking hands. "Amelia are you okay?" Alex's voice rang through my head, as if he was far away. I felt so many emotions at once, then I felt nothing and saw nothing but black.
