"Emerson stop shitting yourself, I swear to God!" The younger boy giggled. "Why does Remington get to be up there?" "Because I'm older, Emerson stop eating Taco Bell before roadtrips, Lia just put in your ear buds. We have 3 hours before we get back to the school." We had to drive to Lawrence, then take a highway to Kansas City, where the school is. Emerson stretched out in the back seat, putting his feet in my lap. "I'm going to take a nap." "Can I put music on?" Remington passed me the aux cord and I plugged it into my phone. Say Amen by Panic! At The Disco started to play. (Such a spicy song.) I started to sing along to the song. "You and Remi should do a duet, his voice mixed with yours would be heaven." I chuckled. "Maybe we will, Mom has been begging for a concert from us and now you." Sebastian smiled at me in the rearview mirror. My phone buzzed and I pulled it out, texting Cody back.
"Lia we're here." I looked up from my dying phone and outside. We're pulled up right next to the school's entrance. Some kids were waiting outside, the one I focused on is Cody. I pushed Emerson's feet off my lap, waking him up, and ran outside. "Lia!" I ran through the crowd, throwing my arms around the boy. "I missed you so much." His voice was muffled because his face is in my neck. "I missed you so much too." "I got you your stuff." Sebastian placed my stuff by my feet and placed a hand on Cody's shoulder. "She's my little sister." That's all he said before walking inside. "I'm assuming everyone else is in too?" He nodded, a smile prominent on his face. He grabbed my hand, intertwining our fingers. "Let's go. I know you'd probably want to unpack and Max looks excited." Max, who is in a cage, barked happily. "Let me take him out, can you take the cage?" Cody nodded and I grabbed Max's leash, putting it onto his collar. "Listen to me Max, you will be a good boy." He licked my hand through the bars and I took out from the cage. "Is he potty trained?" I looked up at Dr. Way and Mr. Iero, who walked up to us. "He is, that was the first thing I taught him." I held my fist out to Max and he bumped his nose to it. "I also taught him how to fist bump." Mr. Iero giggled and ran his hand through Max's fur. "We'll leave you guys to settle in, Lia it is good to see you." I smiled at the older men and followed Cody inside. All the Christmas decorations had been taken down, I felt slightly sad about that. "Are you excited for the performances?" I nodded my head quickly. "I'm singing a song my mom loved." I felt a pang of sadness, but it went away as soon as it came. We walked down the familiar hallway to my room and I heard the boys' voices traveling. "Where the hell are they?" "She sent me a text saying they just got here so hold yourself." "Don't get your panties in a bunch." I let go of Max when we walked into the dorm room. "Max be good." The three looked up at me, then rushed forward. "Lia!" I was met with three pairs of arms, not that I minded or anything. "I missed you guys too, can I please go to the bathroom?"
After all mine and Max's stuff was unpacked and put away, I relaxed and hung out with the boys. I leaned against Cody's legs, smiling when he started running his hands through my hair. "So the Kropp's signed the papers?" I nodded, feeling warmth flow through my body. "They treat me as if I grew up with them. The boys are like the brothers I always begged my mom for."
