Felicia walked out of the bus with the events of her and Jason still in her mind. This was something she had never experienced before. Something about Jason screamed danger, yet it somehow excited Felicia.
She got back to reality as she looked at her house and noticed the lights were on through the windows. This indicated that her parents were home and not asleep yet. A sudden wave of happiness was exactly what she felt. She ran towards the door and impatiently rang the bell. The door opened revealing her mother. "Ma!" Felicia screamed, as she hugged her mother tightly, enjoying the feeling of warmth from her. "I have missed you so much, beta." (Beta is an Indian way of saying baby.) Her mom said, smiling. "I have missed you too, mama." Felicia replied genuinely. "Only your mom gets the hugs?" A funny question was asked by her father, who was currently settled on the couch. "You will always get my hugs too, papa." Felicia giggled as she ran towards her father who had his arms open wide for his daughter.
"It's time for a bear hug!" Felicia's mom exclaimed whilst, she threw herself on the couch with Felicia's dad and Felicia. Felicia missed the feeling of being squashed between the hugs of her parents. No matter how angry she might get at them and how angry or strict they would get at her or are at times, they always meant the world to her. "We made Chicken Biryani for you." (It's like an Indian chicken fried rice.) Felicia's mom said, excitedly. "Yes, although I have helped the most." Felicia's father replied, playfully. "Aha, you two fight how much ever you want, but the whole Biryani is mine." Felicia added and quickly scurried to her bedroom to get changed and eat her mother's delicacy.
"We really missed having her around." Felicia's dad said while looking at her daughter stuffing herself with food. "Yes, we did." Felicia's mom replied, as she laid her head on her husband's shoulder, grateful that her daughter was finally eating well.
Later that night, Felicia and her parents talked about school, work and how their lives were. But not without cracking jokes, obviously. Including some humor in everything was something her parents often did which made Felicia speak more openly to them than most of the kids did to their parents at school. However, Felicia had to face the reality of not seeing her parents as often due to their work. But, she chose to enjoy the slightest moment she got with them rather than complaining. Felicia drifted off to sleep, thinking about the good time she had with her parents that day.
But one thing she couldn't tell them about was Jason. As much as she wanted to tell them about him, she knew being the strict parents they were, they would forbid Jason from seeing her. And she didn't want to let that happen, but didn't know why.
