Hey guys! Sorry this wasn't up sooner, I decided to take a little break since I've been writing pretty much non-stop (Hamilton, hehehe). I also know that after such a big climax it will be hard to continue the story and make it interesting. The next few chapters might be a little bit calmer than the last few chapters, but I still hope you guys enjoy!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Logan's POV
I'm still reeling from the emotional chaos that has just ensued as Virgil and I walk out of his room hand in hand.
I guess we had forgotten about the others and the fact that they will have many questions, and that's why we were so carelessly revealing our feelings about each other to the remaining sides by the hand-holding.
"Hiya kiddo's! So glad you're both okay!" exclaimed Patton as he ran towards us, going in for a flying hug.
I step in front of Virge right as Patton is about to tackle him in a hug. We both collapse in a bundle of limbs, Virgil quietly chuckling behind us.
I knew Virgil was still weak from his... well, whatever it was that happened to him; I'll have to learn more about the recent situation when the time is right.
Roman remains seated on the couch, staring at Virgil and I, not a glint of laughter in his eyes. He seemed very deep in thought about something, though I can't imagine what; I didn't even think Roman was capable of thinking.
Patton jumps up and helps me up, his eyes pleading for forgiveness. I give him one of my rare smiles to show that I wasn't bothered by the unexpected, and forceful, physical contact.
Patton looks at Virge for the okay and wraps him in a comforting but calm embrace.
My heart fills with joy when Virgil pats Patton on the back, his version of reciprocating a hug (I'll make sure to send him some of the links about hugging that I used myself).
Virgil's POV
For once in my life I walk out of my room carefree... until I see Patton hurtling towards Logan and I for one of his famous flying hugs.
Logan realizes that I'm still weak, steps in front of me, and ends up taking the blow of Patton's hug. They both fall to the ground and Patton looks scared for his life; Logan has never enjoyed unexpected physical contact.
I chuckle quietly to myself, but go dead silent when I see Roman's face. The anxiety comes flooding back, Roman has always scared me when he gets in deep thought.
"Oh God," I think, "What's he gonna say? Please don't let him tell Thomas."
Roman's POV
It all makes sense now! I knew something funny was going on!
I'm about to think "I told you Patton!" when I remember what he had to go through.
"Was I a factor in Patton's... thing?" I think to myself. When I was asking Patton about Logan and Virgil, I snapped. "Oh God," I think. Patton has never been good with negative emotions, and he can take it the wrong way.
I never wanted to hurt Patton.
Virgil's POV
Patton looks at me for the okay, and let him hug me. I'm still not used to being hugged, so I just pat his back in response.
I look up from Patton and see Roman once again, but he doesn't scare me this time. He, looks like he's gonna... cry? He's looking at Patton like he stole a puppy and is feeling guilty.
Roman never feels guilt. I'm so confused.
Logan's POV
I look up from Patton and Virgil's embrace, and see Roman. He looks, sad. And... guilty?
I return my eyes to Virgil and Patton, and see I'm not the only confused one. Virgil seems puzzled as well. And Patton, well, Patton seems happy as always.
Patton finally lets go and turns to Roman. Roman corrects his expression as if to hide it from Patton. Once again, I am confused.
"So Virgil, if you wouldn't mind, I believe all of us have several questions about recent events that have occured," I say, breaking the silence, "Patton, I have a few questions for you as well."
"I figured you would, so ask away." Virge responds.
"We should probably sit down for this," Roman says, finally speaking.
"Good idea kiddo!" says Patton, joyful as always.
"We all sit down on the couch, Virgil sitting in the corner of the couch, farther away than all of us. I'm about to scoot closer when I realize how uncomfortable he must feel at the moment, and stay put.
Virgil's POV
"So, like I said before, ask away." I say after we have all sat down on the couch. I sit in the corner. Though I'm acting like my sarcastic self, my heart is racing in my chest. I almost feel another attack coming on when Logan asks his first out of, I'm assuming, many questions.
"First off, what did you do to help Patton?" he says.
"Oh no, I thought he was going to ask some set up questions, not just jump to THAT!"
"Well, we all have abilities as aspects of Thomas's one personality, and mine is... well. Fine, mine is too take feelings of Deceit from Thomas, and the only place for it to go is through me. That's why I'm so anxious all the time. I have known Deceit all through Thomas's life. It's because of him that I exist in the first place. He aims his attacks towards me most of the time, but I guess this time... he went for Patton. It has always been my job to make sure Deceit never gets to Patton, but recently, I've been a little distracted." I glance quickly at Logan, then lower my head in shame.
"I knew Deceit would destroy Patton, that's why I've always tried to stay away: so he can't jump from me to you Patton. I wasn't feeling any anxiety when I went to the kitchen to talk to you, and, I guess now I know why."
My heart fills with guilt, and tears fall down my face.
"I'm sorry... I'm sorry I couldn't-- I couldn't protect you Patton...Nobody else should ever have to go through what I go throu--" I stop myself. I don't want them to feel bad for me. It's my job, I'm not a person. It's my job to protect Thomas, and this is how it has to be.
"Virgil, we never knew you had to go through that, why didn't you tell us?" Logan asks, sincerity in his eyes.
"Because I didn't want you guys to worry... and I thought you wouldn't care." I mumble.
Before Logan can respond, I say, "But I don't know why you were feeling this way Patton, is there something we should know?"
"Well," Patton says, looking almost ashamed,"You guys went the whole video without even realizing I wasn't actually there, except for Virgil, but, I think my mind-- no, Deceit blocked you out Virgil."
"I-- I'm so sorry Patton, Deceit just, he tricked me!" Roman explains.
"He tricked me as well Patton." Logan adds.
"I know that now," Patton says, "I'm sorry I wasn't strong enough to stand up to Deceit, he really got me today."
"And that was my fault." I say, tears streaming down my face, "I'm SORRY!" I yell, and run to my room and slam the door.
"You failed Virgil, they hate you." Deceit says.
The attack begins.
