A sigh escaped Akira's lips. A heavy, disappointed sigh.

"Akira. You must think like the person whom you're fighting! Don't you want to be in control?" Ryo angrily shouted.

"Ryo. I AM in control! I told you, I've been FINE."

"Well, I'll continue to train you until you can defeat me. After all, you're doing this all for her, aren't you?"

Akira nodded. "Yes. I have to protect Miki. Forever and always..!"

"Good, good." Ryo gave a sly grin. "That's all for today. Now, let's get you home.."

Miki was fast asleep by the time Akira showed up. She awoke awhile after Akira arrived back home, sneaking downstairs. She got a small glass of water.

Miki sat on her chair, trying not to cry.
"Akira..why..why've you changed..?" A tear rolled down the girls cheek.

"Because.." a voice replied behind her. "Because now, I'm stronger than ever. And I will use my strength to protect you."

Miki turned around, face to face with Akira. "You-! Akira. I appreciate this but.. you missed another track meet. Coach won't be happy.. all just to hang out with Ryo! Sometimes, I feel like you value him more then me.." she spoke, revealing her true feelings.

Akira gave a small gasp. "Miki. That's not true.. I promise.."

Miki's voice cracked as she spoke, "Oh, sure. You go wherever he goes. You do as he tells you. YOU SKIP TRACK to be with him! He's not even RESPONSIBLE, Akira. You've changed. Maybe, instead of skipping track meets, you'd actually do your part, instead of hanging out with that Ryo guy!"

Akira shot back, "Well, excuse me! Aren't you needy these days!? Who're you to tell me who I can and can't hang out with?! You're not my father or mother!"

By now, the two bickering at each other had woken Miki's parents. They stomped down. Miki and Akira looked at each other, then back at Mr. and Mrs. Makimura. They froze.

"BOTH OF YOU. Get to bed. NOW." Mr. Makimura yelled. "We'll have a talk in the morning with you two.."

The two teens gave an angry glare to each other and slammed their doors shut.

The next morning, Mr. Makimura had them sit next to each other.

"Miki. No track for the rest of the week."

Miki grouchily replied, "whatever.."

Mr. Makimura faces Akira now.

"And Akira. No hanging with Ryo for the rest of the week. And, you have to go to the track meets for the rest of the week."

"What!? But- Mr. Maki-"

"No buts. You two woke everyone up. This is your consequence. Don't be so immature sometimes. Grow up." He sighed, leaving the table.

Miki and Akira barely talked that day at school.

Akira did track as he was told, walking into his room as soon as he got home.

Just how would these two handle their punishments..?
