Warning: This chapter may contain some mature content. It's nothing too graphic at all. Yet. The next few chapters might get into some more detail, so if that's not your thing don't read the last two paragraphs of this chapter. (Like I said though, this chapter isn't bad at all, but I will be putting warnings at the beginning of any chapter that might get too mature for some readers.)

Chapter Twenty-Three: Lust

Zander awoke early the next morning to his arm tingling. Haleigh was still fast asleep in his arms, which had caused his right arm to go completely numb. He didn't want to move in fear of waking her, but he really needed to use the bathroom. As gently as he could he maneuvered his way out of Haleigh's grip. She stirred briefly, then rolled over and was sound asleep once again.

Once Zander had used the restroom he dialed Alyssa, his coworker from Burlington Bagel Factory; hoping she would be awake at this hour.

"Hello?" Alyssa's groggy voice came through Zander's phone.

"Hey Lyss, I'm real sorry if I woke you." He began. "Listen, I'm having some personal issues and was hoping you might want some overtime today." He hated giving up the hours, but couldn't bare the thought of leaving Haleigh alone again this weekend.

"I guess." Alyssa sighed. Zander could tell she wasn't thrilled about the idea, but he was happy she had agreed.

"Thanks Lyss, I'll make it up to you." Zander hung up the phone and then jumped in the shower.

The sun shone brightly through the blinds in Zander's bedroom. Haleigh awoke suddenly, and it took a while before her eyes finally adjusted to the bright light of the Saturday morning. Haleigh wasn't surprised that Zander was nowhere to be found. She sighed and peeked at her phone. She had forgotten about all her missed texts from the night before until she had looked at her phone. She had two missed calls from her father, one missed call from Shane, along with five different texts from Shane, a couple from Toby and one from Sam. She looked at her texts first.

Shane: Why do you never answer your phone anymore

Shane: You never told me about this mystery date you went on.

Shane: Bitch, you better call me back soon!

    Shane: Seriously? WTF

Shane: Call me when you're free.

Toby: Jackson told me about what happened. I hope you're okay...

Toby: Text me if you need to talk.

    Sam: We gotta talk... Urgent.

Haleigh was a little surprised by Sam's text. What could possibly be so urgent. She clicked on the message to reply to her roommate.

    Haleigh: With Zander, what's up?

Sam: Thought you went home for the weekend.

Haleigh: Long story... we'll catch up later.

    Sam: K

Haleigh then scrolled through the texts that Shane had sent her and immediately felt guilty. She had had little time to talk to Shane in the past couple weeks, and she could feel herself growing farther and farther away from him. She hated even the thought of that. She racked her brain, and sent a text to Shane.

Haleigh: I'm so sorry. It has been really crazy these last couple of weeks. Tons to tell     you. Can't call now, but later this weekend I'll tell you everything.
