______________On the to–do list for today was to get the kids into a Kindergarten school, then find out where the nearest supermarket was and get there. It was a short to–do list but there wasn't much to do. I looked up the nearest Kindergarten school and the closet one was ten minutes away. Now all that was left was to shop for groceries. Sierra and I spent almost one hour figuring out what we would need. This was the first time that we were living on our own and I think that we were coming to terms with it. But sitting down and figuring out what we needed took a lot of time. It was usually Diana who did the shopping and she always knew what to buy.
My shoulders slumped. Single parenting wasn’t an easy task, at least I had my best friend to help me.
“Are you going to add the bloody Yogurt to the list or not?” Sierra asked in annoyance.
I blinked. Staring at her I asked, “Since you know what and what to buy, why don’t you do the shopping?”
She looked at me as if I was crazy. “And let you stay here and do nothing? Do I look stupid to you?”
I gaped at her in shock. “Did you just… you did not just… I can’t believe you just said that Sierra!”
She rolled her eyes and grabbed the paper with the list of what to buy and started writing on it.
“There is a lot of things to do here!” I said.
“Oh really?” She asked in fake interest. “Like what?”
“Watching the kids.” I gave her a smug smile.
“Those babies are like little men and women now. They don’t want you to brush their teeth, bathe them, feed them, put their clothes on, take their clothes off…” Sierra took in a deep breeth, her eyes filling with tears. “Why do they grow up so fast?”
I gave her a pat on her back. It’s true. It was like yesterday that I first held Aiiden, Asher and Aixel for the first time, now they’re three years old and acting independent. Where did my little babies go?
“Have you finished adding what you think you need?” I asked her softly.
She nodded and as she wiped the snot from her nose, she answered with a yes.
Getting up, I grabbed my purse off of the table and took up the list. I gave her a smile smile. “Wish me luck,” I said.
She snorted and fanned me off. I left the kitchen, entering into the living room to see Ava and Aixel on the floor playing with their dolls and doll houses. I didn’t see the boys, but didn’t worry about it, they were probably in their rooms doing who knows what.
I kissed the girls on their cheeks before I left the apartment. Heading over to Martha’s apartment. I had planned to asked her where the nearest supermarket was. Lifting my hand to knock on the door, I was thrown into a state of surprise when the door opened. Surprise flashed before Martha’s eyes before a smile appeared on her lips.
“Well hello dear,” She greeted. “Is something wrong?”
My hand fell to my side. “Oh no!” I answered quickly. “I was just coming over to ask you where the nearest supermarket is.”
