Coming in to the kitchen, I raised my eyebrows when I saw Sierra sitting at the island and staring into space with her head rested in the palm of her hand. The air was coated with the smell of coffee. I walked over to the coffee machine, picking up a mug on the way and poured some coffee into it. I dumped a lot of cream into it and a little sugar.
Today was the day that Aixel would be discharged from the hospital. I was going to pick her up around eleven, my eyes drifted towards the clock on the wall in the small dining area, it was a few minutes to ten.
I went and stood beside Sierra, I took a sip of the burning hot coffee, making sipping noises as I did. She jumped making me laugh. I placed the cup down quickly then laughed loudly. She glared at me and took up my cup and drank my coffee as if it was hers. A triumphant smirk appeared on her lips when I glared at her.
“What’s got you looking like that?” I asked with concern.
Sierra sighed. “Nothing really,” She answered in a sweet tone.
Narrowing my eyes at her, I placed my left hand on her shoulder. “Sierra I am your best friend; I know you.”
Her shoulders slumped. “I’m just wondering why you won’t take up my offer on us just getting together.”
I stared at her in discomfort and quickly took my hand off her shoulder as if it was on fire. Sierra started laughing at me. There was tears and everything. I scowled at her, that was not funny.
“I’m kidding! I’m kidding!” She said with a grin.
“Stop saying that Sara, or else I’ll be forced to think you’re gay.”
She stopped smiling immediately. “At least I wouldn’t get hurt if I was a lesbian.”
My mood dampened. So she’s here thinking about her past. I gripped her shoulders and turned her to face me. “Sierra many people have been through what you have been through and they have given up but you haven’t!” I told her with admiration in my eyes and voice. “You’re trying to over come it and move on with life and I am proud of you. You’re the strongest person I’ve ever met.”
“Really? Then you haven’t met yourself,” She mused.
I pursed my lips and stepped away from her. “We’re not going there,” I told her.
“Why not?” She scoffed.
“We just aren’t.”
“Do you see the way that man looks at you Viv?”
Viv, short for Vivianne, was the name that Diana and Jeremy had decided to call me because, according to them, I didn’t look like a Gemma.
With my cup of coffee forgotten, I went to sit on our couch. “I do Sierra, I do see the hurt, the hatred.” I hung my head. “He hates me.”
