TWO WEEKS LATER
T A S H A ’S P. O. V.
I sat staring at the wall opposite of me. The aroma of the tasty-looking food invaded the air around me in the room. My stomach grumbled with both hunger and nausea. I couldn't stomach the food for more than a couple minutes, then it would come back up. I didn’t know why but the doctor said it was probably a side effect of being asleep for so long and not eating anything but fluids.
The room I was in was bare. The walls were a dark blue, the large bed that I was currently seated on and the bedside table were the only furniture in the room. I knew why Dustin placed me in such a bare room; he was afraid that I would try to kill myself again for the umpteenth time. I felt so torn at the thought of it. I had put my family through so many things. Even the bathroom was bare, there was only a Colgate and a toothbrush in there. Not even a towel was in sight. Dustin said I would use the towel to hang myself, he even said that he would even take the time out to bathe me because he was afraid that I would try to drown myself. When he said that, there was so much fear in his voice that it made my bottom lip wobble and my eyes filled with tears, not only was I slowly killing myself, I was slowly killing him too.
I haven’t seen my daughter since I have been discharged. She was staying with her grandparents, Dustin’s parents. Dustin didn’t want our daughter to see me right now, and I didn’t want her to see me either. I had torn this family apart with my foolish decisions.
The door slowly opened and my handsome husband slowly walked in. When he saw the untouched food, he frowned. “Why have you not eaten as yet?” There was tiredness in his voice. I felt like he was tired of me— of the problems I had caused. “Tasha, baby, we talked about this and you said you would change, or have you forgotten already?” There was a slight anger in his voice.
“I cannot eat the food.” My voice came out robotic, I didn’t feel like myself anymore, I didn’t feel comfortable in my own skin. “Where is Gemma, you said she was here?”
“Stop calling that girl’s name.” He walked towards the plate of food and took it up. “Now you’re going to eat this Tasha.”
“I want to see Gemma.” I stared up at him with innocent eyes.
“You can’t see Gemma.” He scooped up a small amount of potatoes onto the fork and placed it close to my lips. “Open your mouth Tasha.”
I shook my head. “I want to see Gemma.”
“Stop calling that fucking bitch’s name in this house,” He hissed.
I glared at him. “Don’t call her a bitch.”
Throwing the plate of food into the wall on the side of us, he exploded. “She fucking caused you to become who you are right now!”
I flinched from the loud noise. Sliptters of class flew everywhere, including my skin but I ignored it. “Tyler broke her heart!” I yelled in rage. I got to my feet. “She didn’t know of the plan! You were there, you saw her face, you say how she…how she—” I started crying. I fell to the floor and started sobbing. “You saw when the light left her eyes, you saw
when her eyes got dull, you saw when she…when she broke.” My shoulders shook as I sobbed. “She didn't deserve it! Even though he did it to save her, she didn’t deserve it.”
I felt him touch my shoulders. “Tasha,” He said softly, his voiced was filled with regret. “Baby I—”
I shook his hands off me and turned to him. “Don’t touch me. You just don’t understand the pain that we women go through because of you men! You all saw and understood that she didn’t deserve it, yet you turn away because I took it on myself to feel the regret and pain that Tyler also feels. The hatred that you and Lucas hold towards her is stupid and whenever I acknowledge the fact that we are related makes me sick.”
Dustin blinked in shock.
We sat on the floor for a while, not saying anything. The tickling feeling on my arm drew my attention to it. Blood was running down my arm from where shards of glasses had pierced my skin. I tried to take out the biggest one, but whimpered at the pain that shot through my arm. Dustin grabbed my arm immediately, I hissed from the movement that caused my hand to hurt more.
“Fucking hell Tasha!” He cursed. He got up, pulling me up also. He walked swiftly out of the room, entering into the one across from it which was our room. He entered into the bathroom and closed the toilet then put me to sit on it. I watched him as he rummaged the cabinets for the first aid kit. He found it in the cabinet below the sink. He opened the large kit and placed it on the floor. He took a cotton swab, wetting it with water from the tap st the face basin and cleaned the area off. He then took the small pair off twissors and pulled out the shards of glasses from my skin. He disinfectanted the area then bandaged it.
During all this, I had not made a sound but watched him as he took care of me as he has been doing for more than four years. I couldn’t see a life without this man, I loved him so much, I needed him more than I needed air and I do need air.
“I am so sorry,” He whispered. My heart ached with the amount of regret that seeped through his voice. “And you’re right, these past three years I have been narrow minded about Gemma’s situation.” He pushed my matted hair away from my pale face. “She didn’t deserve it baby.”
I nodded in agreement with what he said.
“I’m so, so sorry Tasha. I let out all my anger on you.”
Cupping his face, I gave him a small smile. “It’s okay, you didn’t mean it.”
He shook it. “No I didn’t.”
I nodded. “Next time don’t vent out your anger like that.”
He sighed. “I know baby.”
“I have other ways.”
He raised an eyebrow as he stared at me with interest in his eyes. “That is…?”
With I smirk on my lips, I kissed him.

“Am I allowed to see Gemma now?” I asked Dustin as he sliced the steak into bitable pieces for me. He froze when I asked the question. I eyed him with a frown. “What? What’s wrong?”
He cleared his throat and avoided looking me in the eyes. “Uhm Tash, Gemma is…she’s in the hospital.”
I blinked. Scoffing in disbelief, I asked, “What?”
