the day after

Kate walks into school after a hard Saturday evening and Sunday, her and her father were kicked out of Lukes house at the return of his father. Kate hates seeing her dad like this, he was finally happy and now he's feeling like dirt. Emaline sees Kate and walks up to her,"Hey sweetie!"
"Hey," Kate says glumly. Emaline's smile fades.
"What's wrong?" She lifts Kate's head so she's looking at her. She can see tears in Kate's eyes.
"Emaline, there's been a lot going on lately... and I don't know..."
"Hey sweetheart, I'm always here to listen when you need me." Emaline takes Kate's hand and give it a gentle squeeze. They turn and walk down the hall to homeroom.

~lunch~
Kate is standing at her locker waiting for Emaline to come when all of a sudden she felt someone slink their arms around her waist. She turns around to see Emaline "Hey sweetie."
"Hey, Em!"
"Missed ya."
"It's been less than a day Emaline."
"It feels like a year." Emaline say swooning dramatically. Kate rolls her eyes and laughs as Emaline drags her down the hall and out the doors of the school. She finds herself in the back seat of the emalines car, with Emaline on her lap bridal style. Kate looks into emalines eyes as if she's searching for something, Emaline's staring back at her with love in her eyes.
"Emmie, I um... do you maybe want to be my girlfriend?" Kate says now more nervous than before.
"I would love to!" Emaline kisses Kate.
They pull apart, Emaline is now straddling kate, through breaths she whispers
"I missed the taste of your lips all day."
Kate smiles and rests her head on top of emalines
"I really don't want to ruin the moment but we are at least 5 minutes late for class."
