Emaline drove Kate home. They drove in silence, Emaline pulled into the driveway and turned off the engine. She got out and helped Kate out, eyes bloodshot and not saying a word as she did. She followed Kate inside, she turned to leave but Kate turned and caught her arm pulling her into a kiss, Emaline pulled away and held Kate close resting her head on Kates' chest. Kate walked to the couch and sat them down, she rotated their bodies so they were lying down. Soon enough Emaline was asleep and Kate knew that she would have to talk to Emaline about it when she woke up.
When Emaline woke up she was a little startled because she was lying on top of a sleeping kate. She tried to get up without waking kate but failed miserably. She misjudged the height of the couch and rolled off kate and unto the floor, creating a large thud. Kate sat up startled and started laughing because Emaline was on the floor on her stomach, face red as a tomato. She was red because she was embarrassed and because she hit the floor really hard. Kate swung her legs around so she could help her girlfriend up and the looked at the clock on the wall. It read 6:30, "oh shit." Kate said.
"What?!"
"It's 6:30, my dad should be home and your parents are probably worried out of their minds."
"Nah, they couldn't care less if I were dead." Emaline states her voice getting a little shakey.
"What do you mean?" Emaline now has tears forming in her eyes.
"I mean that they don't care. I come home and they're gone, I wake up and they're gone. And on weekends they're home but... I guess they choose not to see me... I don't know..." She's now crying again and once more kate takes her in her arms.
"Babe, I will always be here for you. I will always care for you even if we split up. I want the world to know that you're mine and I don't care who calls us names because I know I'll have you to keep me strong. About that... What was McQuaid saying to piss you off?"
"He called me a dyke... I don't even know what I am. But I like you and right now that's all I need."
