Kate looks at Emaline and asked, "What was that about?"
"She asked me out on a date."
"She What?!?! I'm gonna kill her"
"Jesus babe. You're jealous." Emaline laughs.
"No, I'm not!" Kate gets embarrassed "it's just you're mine... and only mine."
Emaline smiles, "I know baby and I'm glad to be."
"I just don't want her flirting with you and..." kate frowns. The bell goes and Emaline give her girlfriend a reassuring kiss and turns to go to homeroom.

When Emaline gets to class she notices Alex sat across the room in her chair. Emaline approaches Alex, "What the fu-" she gets cut off by Alex,
"What's up hot stuff? Did you just break up with Kate for me? Or are you here to tell me that you love me?" She states full of pride.
"Ew, what the fuck, no! I was going to say what the fuck are you doing in my chair"
"Oh, well I can be your chair" Alex winks in a seductive way.
"Again, ew, what the fuck, no!"

Time skip after school

Alex walks home and she knows what's coming next, she's going to walk through the door to her drunken father and strangely very religious mother. (More homophobes what a surprise.) She walks up her driveway to stop and realizes that her home doesn't feel like it is her home. She turns around and walks away from a place she called home but really wasn't home. She walks down the cracked driveway, past the garden and back onto the street. She walks down to the nearby park and decides that this is where she will spend the night. She wraps up in her thin leather jacket then falls asleep cold and hungry; which is not unusual for her considering her circumstances. It's getting dark, she can hear the buzz of the street lamp, it falls the wind rustles the leaves and the crisp air nips at her exposed skin. She hopes the morning would come soon. Out of the dark night comes a man, the faint scent of alcohol tells her everything she needs to know, she gets up and runs for where ever she can go. It's her father, luckily he can run or his knees will give out, so Alex runs for the only other place she knows, school. When she gets there she sits on the back steps and curls up into a ball, she drifts to sleep again. She wakes up and the sun is just coming up over the horizon, her head is pounding and her eyes burn but she's alive, not held captive by her parents and feeling more alive than normal. She looks at her reflection in the glass of the door behind her and notices the makeup that once covered her bruised face is gone. She can't let anyone know, but she's going to have to live with it for one day. She's trying to think of excuses, "I ran into a door", no "I got hit in the face by a basketball" getting there, " I tripped and slammed my face into a table" that's honestly the perfect description for the bruse on her right cheek. The reason why they moved in the first place was that the neighbours were getting suspicious of Alex getting abused. She gets up satisfied with her answer and walks towards the playground, as ready as she can be for today.
