Why is time so controversial? Just because it's so free, should it feel real?

Why is time so controversial?
Just because it's so free, should it feel real?

It inexorably moves forward, flowing like a river,
It has direction and an order.

Time has duration, a period quantifiable,
It has a privileged present, real, relatable.

All events proceed through time's universal background,
And time moves silently, without a sound.

Time may not be what time seems,
The artificial constructs of a human mind it deems.

Time is a smooth unity, without parts,
The ever-existing stage on which all thing starts.

To appreciate time is to feel the fabric of reality,
Time is an illusion, not a real entity.

"It's a part of the 'block universe' theory," everyone does chime,
Time is a part of four-dimensional, space-time.

Changing time presents an illusional picture,
Nothing changes, everything's there- past, present, future.

Future doesn't exist, past has happened.
So is time's existence really that simple to defend?

Time's an independent parameter in the equation of motion,
That's what is a theoretical cosmologist's notion.

The time that we see, the clock does tell.
Time doesn't exist in Physics, until in relativity concept we fell.

There is no absolute time, no absolute space.
That's what Einstein's relativity's essence.

Reality is actually timeless, sounds bizarre pretty,
You get to see the true essence in spirituality.

Thus time is the indefinite, continued progress of existence,
An apparently irreversible succession in a sense.
