"Can you turn on the lights?" I asked Lovette. She didn't answer. Where was she? Suddenly, I tensed. Someones breath was on my ear. I craned my neck slightly to the right and saw a figure. It took me only a moment to realize who it was.

"Lovette..."

"I hate you," she hissed into my ear. Chills ran down my back. "And I'm going to kill you... slowly."

"Why?" I asked. Suddenly, she was at the far side of the room by the windows. I blinked. My jaw dropped. No one moves that fast.

"Why? Because like I said, I hate you. You disgust me."

"But why?" I asked again. She suddenly appeared at my side again.

"I told you I hate you." Lovette paused. "You don't recognize me, do you."

"Your Lovette." The crazy girl who invited me over and then tell me she wants to kill me, I thought. She shook her head vigorously.

"No I'm not! I'm-"

"The door to the room suddenly opened. Lovette stepped back immediately as if the sudden light from the open door burned her eyes. Kevin, finally, but sadly, with a t-shirt on, was standing stiffly in the doorway.

"What's going on here," he asked, but it came it out more as a statement. Lovette took another step back. A weak smile appeared on her face.

"Nothing," she said quickly. "Fall was just leaving. I'll take her-"

"I'll take her to the door," Kevin said cutting in. His face was impassive as he stared at his sister. The faint smile on her face completely disappeared.

"Fine, take her away. I need my be beauty sleep anyway. Your dismissed." She turned away and tromped into the nearest bathroom. Did she just tell us we were dismissed?

"Let's go," he said to me. I didn't nod, still too stunned, but followed him anyway. We made it all the way to the door until we stopped. Kevin turned to me.

"Did you hear all of that?" I asked, surprised that I could talke and how calm my voice was. He nodded. "That was kind of freaky. What did she mean about who she really was?"

"Lovette's not her real name," he replied.

"Yeah, she changed it right?"

"But there was a reason for it."

"Then what is her real name?" I asked. His eyes slid to the floor.

"You won't believe me."

"Tell me." He took a deep breath, then looked me in the eyes.

"My sister isn't Lovette. She's the goddess Aphrodite."

--&--

"So your telling me," I said slowly, "That your sister is actually the Goddess of Love and Beauty... Aphrodite?" He nodded. I thought he was kidding me until I saw the truth written in his eyes.
