Isabelle's POV

I don't know how I feel at the moment. Maybe (Y/n) had planned on inviting us both! Or maybe he only wanted Rosie there, and I was a close second. Maybe, just maybe, he likes Rosie a lot more than he could ever like me. They're best friends aren't they? I'm just his stuttering secretary, someone he could never find interest in. Or hopefully, I'm overreacting again.
"Yo Belle~~!" I heard (Y/n) chirp, swinging the door open to the Town Hall.
"Good morning, (Y/n)!" I said cheerfully, ignoring the tightening knot in my stomach. He smiled genuinely at me, and made his way to the back. He was almost there before I stood up.
"Is something wrong Belle?" He said gently.
"Uhm... I was wondering if you'd accompany me for a bit..." I somehow said, but very quietly.
"Sure thing!" He pranced over to me, seemingly ecstatic.
"Thank you..." I led him out the door and towards Main Street. We strode through the newly decorated town, crunching over flakes of amber and breathing in the crisp air.
"What's on the agenda?" (Y/n) asked, stretching. Residents have started peering out at us, either giving him a thumbs up or running over to gossip with one another. My brain began assuming before Marshall happened to walk by.
"Good work (Y/n)! Nice to see you doing your job." He praised, voice naturally sarcastic.
"Thanks buddy!" My mood surprisingly sank. I wouldn't want any rumors spreading, but the thought of anyone thinking I was with (Y/n) filled me with butterflies, fluttering and increasing my heart rate. Marshall eventually walked away, and (Y/n) turned back to me.
"Well, I have to remind the shops that Halloween is approaching. Some of the monthly exclusive items need to be put on display." I explained, starting our trek up again.
"Oh... I see. I didn't know you needed to do that." He replied, with an almost unnoticeable hint of disappointment.
"I don't normally." I just wanted an excuse to be with you. "But sometimes they forget." He nodded, looking ahead. I creepily watched him, captivated by his features. Someone like him should be impossible. He's practically perfect inside and out. Sure he's a little dense and a bit of an airhead, but I can't help but love everything about him. I'm probably just biased because of my feelings. He caught my gaze and grinned, causing me to go a deep shade of red. I simpered back, lips quivering.
"You look at me a lot. Is there something on my face?" He asked without considering my emotions.
"I.... uh..." I couldn't respond, afraid of his view of me of I said how I really felt. Relationships are built on trust though, right? If we were dating, I'd have no problem telling him how handsome I think he is. "I was looking at a cool flower over there. I'd never seen.. uh... orange roses before." I lied, waiting nervously for his response. Luckily for me, he didn't check next to him.
"Oh yeah! I forgot that nobody here's seen hybrids before. They're pretty neat aren't they!" His smile widened (which I didn't think was possible).
"Y-yep!" I turned away and mentally celebrated.

We stepped up the cobblestone stairs, (Y/n) a few ways ahead of me.
"Where to first?" He asked, turning around so I could admire him on my way up. He was like a beacon, shining brightly. So out of reach, yet right in front of me.
"Well T&T Emporium is right there.." I half-muttered, earning a laugh from (Y/n). He took my paw and walked me inside, letting go sooner than I would've liked, but I can't complain. Tommy greeted us, stalking (Y/n), who began sifting through items, wherever he went.
"Just remember that your October sales need to start by tomorrow." I informed.
"Okay Isabelle! Miss secretary." He said, nearly out of breath from chasing (Y/n) around. "I'll have Timmy help me! Indeed I will!" The twins have always been a little strange... saying weird things at the end of each sentence.
"Thank you, let's go (Y/n)!" I turned to him, frowning when I watched him purchase three new items that Tommy had just put out. "Rea—"
"I'm coming! I'll be right behind you, promise!" I shook my head and walked out, headed for the Able Sisters. A bell similar to the Town Hall's rang above me, causing Mabel to turn around and smile at me. (Y/n) rushed in soon after, flustered when Mabel let out a soft giggle. He swayed nervously and I smirked at him, finding amusement in his awkwardness.
"Anywho, I came to inform you that Halloween costumes need to be put on display before tomorrow." I said, trying to sound all professional.
"Of course! Thanks Isabelle!" Mabel said cheerfully, whispering something to Sable, who smiled. I shrugged that off as well.
"That's all, let's go... (Y/n)?" He began chatting with Sable after her small conversation with Mabel. I remember her always being very silent, but there they were, babbling on as if they've been friends for years.

Once again, (Y/n) has amazed me.

Time Skip

"Mmm!" (Y/n) let out, stretching. "That was nice, thanks for inviting me Belle!" Today was the Autumn Moon Festival, celebrating the biggest and brightest full moon of the year. It didn't take long for it to become visible, for it rises earlier.
"Well it's the least I could do for dragging you around Main Street for an hour." I said, watching him bite into a good-luck roll. (Y/n) and I were sitting patiently on wooden bench, he told me it was one of his favorite spots to gaze at the sky. There were street lamps on either side, surrounded by white pansies. They flickered a bit, moths circling around the light. It was surprisingly comfortable considering the sudden chill in the air... mainly because (Y/n) had his arm wrapped around me. We were sharing a scarf that he randomly pulled out of his pocket when I first shivered. I hadn't been able to eat, and he'd just finished.
"Look Belle!" A cloud had finally moved out of the way, unmasking the brilliant glow. (Y/n) stared in awe, leading me to blush at his cuteness. His gaze relaxed and he turned to me, smiling warmly. "Y'know, when I lived in the city, I never had time to do anything I enjoyed. In fact, I never considered it." He looked down for a moment. "S-so uh... thank you..." I wasn't sure why he was thanking me, but I didn't have time to think about it. He leaned down towards my face, icy vapor escaping both of our lips. I didn't move, in fact I was beginning to close my eyes. The warmth from his face drew nearer, and I knew he was right in front of me.
"Hey (N/n)!" The two of us grew crimson, moving away instantly. Rosie bounded over to us, and I was shooting daggers straight into her skull... in my head of course.
"What's up Ro? Here to see the moon?" He said all casually. How? I don't know. She nodded and grinned.
"Howdy Isabelle! The cold must be getting to ya, you're redder than.. well I don't know actually..." she said, plopping down next to (Y/n).
"Hahah... it sure is..." I replied with as much enthusiasm that I could muster. I shifted in my seat uncomfortably, afraid to strike up any conversations now that his best friend was here. My mind went back to what had happened before, increasing my embarrassment. What was that, (Y/n)?

Authors Note

Heeey.... yeah so I broke my streak but I was feeling very unmotivated to write. I knew I had to, but I also didn't feel like forcing myself. So taking my time to write this chapter actually did me some good! I ended up somewhat liking this one, considering I'm a sucker for romance.
Poor Belle, having your chances stripped away from you like that. Actually, that seems to happen a lot, doesn't it?
Anyways I hope you enjoyed, I'll try to have a part out by at least Wednesday. (I'm going traveling so I might not have time to write....)
Byeeee!
