Maya POV
The next morning I awoke to the sun shining through the thin curtains. My head still hurt from the gash but it was nothing a pain pill couldn't fix.
I got up out of bed to begin the day. I showered and did my daily routine before going downstairs for some breakfast.
The sweet aroma of waffles filled my nose making me smile.
"Good morning family" I made my presence known, smiling as I entered the dining room plopping down between Ethan and my brother.
"How did you sleep last night? I trust the silk comforters I brought for you are more than satisfactory" my dad sipped his coffee.
"Yes as a matter of fact they were, best sleep I've had all year" I smiled at him piling my plate with food.
"Maya dear what happened to your head!" My mother looked over my face with a worried expression.
"She took on two guys! And won!" Carlos said through a mouthful of food. My eyes widened and me and the guys glared at him.
"How did you end up fighting two men! You said you fell!" My father almost yelled.
"Dad-" he cut me off.
"Ethan how did that happen" my father asks pointing at the small wound on my head.
"Two guys hijacked the van while we were busy in the warehouse" he informed my father making me roll my eyes. If there was one thing I hated about Ethan is how he did every little thing my father asked him to do.
"Arthur you let her go on a mission!" My mother scolded him.
"She was suppose to stay in the van" he defended.
"Look what that got her!" My mom gestured toward the wound.
"I think you guys are ignoring the fact that I took down two grown men. That should prove that I'm capable of going on missions. Field work! Not just staying in the van!" I sighed.
"No more missions and that's final!" My mother stood up throwing her napkin on her plate before storming out of the dining room.
"Dad!" I turned to him.
"I agree with your mother. Next time it could be worse" he sighed.
"But you know I have Ethan by my side" I could tell Ethan wanted to protest but he kept his mouth shut.
"No, end of discussion" my father finalized before following my mother.
I scoffed storming out of the room as well. I'm capable of selling drugs but I can't do field work, amazing.

Ethan POV
After breakfast I decided to go in search of Maya. She was pretty upset when she left earlier.
I get where her father was coming from but then again I saw those men and she did quite a number on them.
I heard soft grunts coming from the gym. I followed the noises and found Maya working on a punching bag.
"Feet farther apart, block your face more and don't step before you punch, it'll make it easier for your opponent to dodge your hits" I critiqued her. She turned and gave me an annoyed look.
"Thanks for defending me at breakfast" she scoffed before turning back to the bag.
"Your father had a point" I walked over to her.
"You know what I can do Ethan, you trained me yourself. You know what I'm capable of!" She sighed.
"I know but your not cut out for field work" I held the bag so it wouldn't swing while she punched it.
