Maya POV
"Please, please, don't fire me I need this job to feed my family" the butler pleaded in his thick foreign accent.
I sighed before telling him he could go. Me and Ethan have been here for hours talking to these people trying to find something but we've gotten nowhere. I looked down at my phone it was 10:54 pm. I sighed looking up at Ethan.
"I'm exhausted eth" I laid my head on his shoulder.
Ethan POV
"I'm exhausted eth" Maya sighed laying her head on my shoulder. Usually when someone calls me by anything either that 'Ethan' or 'Dolan' I'd physically hurt them but I liked it when it came from Maya's mouth.
"We have five more people" I groaned. I was worried that we were never going to find out who broke him out. "Be right back I'm using the bathroom"
"Get me something to drink, I'm thirsty" she yawned. I walked upstairs towards one of the downstairs bathrooms.
"Ethan, hey" I turned around to find a sweaty Carlos.
"Why are you sweaty?" I wasn't going to say hey back I hate small talk let's say what we need to say and get on with our lives.
"Training, didn't you hear Arthur wants us to train and get ready" He panted wiping the sweat from his forehead.
"Ready for what" I squinted my eyes at him.
"The war to come, our moles told us that the dude that escaped is Rico Salvo he works for the guys who were attacking our warehouses" he informed.
"But we don't know who those guys are" I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Exactly so we don't know what these guys are capable of and salvo knows where the house is so if they come here we have to be ready" He exhaled, worry laced in his voice. This was bad really bad.
"You want me to get you out of interrogation so you can join us" he offered.
"Nah" I declined.
"Seriously? Since when does Ethan Dolan pass up sparring" he chuckled.
Since the alternative was spending hours with Maya. Wait what.
"Uh I got to get back" I walked away before he could say anything. What the hell am I thinking?
"Hey where's my drink?" Maya questioned as I sat down. Fuck, I totally forgot about that.
"Must've slipped my mind" I shrugged.
"Whatever" she rolled her eyes. "Who's the next person?"
"Mark" I sighed.
"Oh mark, I like mark. He makes great orange juice" her perfect plump lips peeled apart to reveal her beautiful smile. What the fuck did I just say?
Mark came in his face not showing any kind of emotion. He sat down not saying a word
"Mark where were you from-" he cut her off.
"It was me" he rushed out. What?
"What?" Maya mirrored my thoughts.
"I did it, I broke him out" he looked down fiddling with his fingers.
"Put your hands out on the table" I demanded.
He hesitantly put his hands on the table.
"You broke Rico Salvo our?" I asked. He nodded. I took out my knife and stabbed his right hand leaving my knife in his hand.
"Ahhhhhhh! What the fuck!" He screamed. Maya looked at me with wide eyes.
"How did you do it?" I asked calmly.
"What do you mean how did I do it!? I broke him out! I cut off the cameras and paid the prisoners off!" His voice squeaked as he yelled.
"He didn't do it" I scoffed taking my knife out of his hand. He pulled his hand off of the table clutching it with his other hand.
"Mark why did you confess if you didn't do it?" Maya asked softly.
"They have my mom!" He sobbed.
"Mark who's they?" I questioned.
"I don't know I was taking out the trash and these guys threw me into a van saying that if I don't confess they would kill my mom!" He cried.
"What did these men look like? What were their names?" I continued.
"I-I don't know I was too scared to get a good look at anything" He sniffled. I groaned in annoyance. "B-but t-there was one with a mangled ear, that's all I remember"
"Go to the infirmary get your hand checked out, I'll come get you in an hour" Maya smiled sweetly.
Maya turned to me after he left.
"And the plot thickens" she sighed. "Why did you have to stab him you could've roughed him up a bit"
"It was efficient though" I shrugged.
"Ugh this was a long night we" she groaned. "We'll have to resume this in the morning. Have a briefing to inform the guys and my father"
"Yeah you do that" I said placing a hand on her knee. She looked down at it making me pull away. Fuck why am I being so weird around her.
She looked at me biting her lip as she giggled. That made me feel some type of way.
"Dude, are you okay?" She smiled.
"Fine, why?" I scoffed. She placed a hand on my thigh making my breath hitch.
"You seem a little, I don't know, tense" her voice was soft and quiet. I didn't even realize how close she was. Please kiss me, please kiss me.
"I should get to bed" she pulled away, a pang of disappointment running through me as she got up.
"Yeah" I cleared my throat. "I'll check up on Mark for you" she thanked me before finally leaving.
What the fuck was that!? What is wrong with me.
I decided to go talk to someone about this.
"Gloria?" I knocked on her door.
"Come in!" Her cheerful voice rang. I walked into her room that was illuminated by her fire place as she read a book enjoying the warmth.
"Hola" Her voice was soft and welcoming. I loved Gloria she was like a second mother to me. She's helped me through almost everything.
I walked in closing the door sitting on the floor in front of her.
"I think there's something wrong with me" I looked up at her worriedly. She closed her book taking off her glasses letting them hang around her neck by the stringy thing.
"Que pasa?" She asked me what's wrong as she folded her hands on her lap.
"Okay So today we had to interrogate everyone" she nodded. "Well I had to do it with maya so we spent hours together and when I'm around her my stomach feels weird like I'm on a rollercoaster and I'm just looking at her in such a different way. Like her smile, before I never thought anything of it but now when she smiles it just brightens my whole day" I sighed looking at the ground. "And her laugh, don't get me started on that"
She laughed making me confused.
"I'm dying and you're laughing?" I scoffed.
"Oh, mijo, you're not dying" she laughed.
"You're in love"
