This is Rose speaking, commander of Rose's life. It is 4:32 PM, and Rose Kentington has finished her homework and is BORED OUT OF HER FREAKIN MIND.

I need a life.

I need to call Victoria.

Victoria and I had been friends since 8th grade. When we were 13. And now we're 17. So she pretty much knows all about me. But not like Des does. Des has known me since 1rst grade.

Yeah, I know. Small town, small life.

But it was always good having a girl like Vicky to talk to. Even though she's really shy around people. Either that, or afraid. She shouldn't be though. If she actually spoke to the male race, she would probably have a date every night. Which would kind of be bad for me..... but whatever. Because talking with Vicky was always extremely interesting. And she was so open to people she trusted. And she was very, very pretty with long, straight blonde hair and gorgeous blue eyes. If only she had a better fashion sense. Then, she wouldn't even have to talk to boys to get their attention. But I'm working on that.

Even though I get so self-absorbed with thinking everyone around me is beautiful, that doesn't mean I'm anything to look at. I'm a total spaz. Sure I have soft brown hair which is kind of long. And I have big brown doe eyes. But they make me look like a freak. I have no idea what males see in me. Or how I get asked out so much. I must be some kind of witch, with voo woo powers or something. I'm really clumsy, and I even tripped once. On a FLAT SIDEWALK. It's a good thing Des was there to catch me. I mean, JEEZ WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?!

I called Vicky. I should get myself together before I commit suicide or something.

She answered on the first ring, as always, because the only person who calls her is her mom, or me.

"Hey."

"Hey, Victoria, you got any new lacy panties on sale?"

Victoria works in Tiffany Luna's, a store that specializes in lingerie. I actually secretly filled out an application for her, and when I told her I had gotten her  a job, she was estatic. Until we pulled up to the store. She couldn't refuse, so now every Tuesday's , Thursday's , and Sunday's from 5-8, she's stuck handling "the sexiest sets of underwear a woman could ask for."  She hates me for it, and I always get a kick about asking about it.

"Yeah, some. Do you want me to buy you some?"

The sad part is Vicky always forgets the joke until at least 5 minutes later. So I waited.

"Oh, ha ha."

"So, wanna go do something tonight?"

"Oh sorry, I can't!

Rejection again? "Oh. Why not?"

She beamed at me. Literally. I could see it through the phone, practically.

"BECAUSE I HAVE A DATE!!!"

"NO WAY!" I said bewildered.

"YES! RILEY STEVENSON ASKED ME OUT!!"

"AHHHH!!!" I screamed politely for her. Because I was sooo happy for her. And relieved. But, also kind of sad. Which was so selfish of me, actually. Vicky never complained when I couldn't make it because I had dates. So I put it out of my mind for now.

"Yeah, we're going to the bowling alley! But I have so many questions for you! What do I wear?! What do I say?! I've never had to deal with this."

In the time of half an hour, I answered all her questions, serious and silly alike, from kissing to which side of her looked best. I was SERIOUSLY happy for her. Truly, Scout's Honor. Even though I'm not really a girl scout kind of person. But I can't believe I had been rejected once again. When she hung up, still debating between heels and practical sneakers, I flopped down on my bed. I looked around at my baby blue walls, my mahogany furniture, and my posters of Washed Away Stars, my favorite band. What was I to do now?

There was a knock at my door.

"Come in."

Then, my 13 year old sister, Lilly, came in.

"I have nothing to do on a Friday night. Typical. Shouldn't you be at the docks?"

"Des had other plans."

"Sucks for you. Wanna go watch Click Your Phone with me?" Her favorite show.

Well, what else am I going to do?

"Sure."

"YES!!! Come on, it's a new one! It starts in seven minutes so let's get the snacks!"

I sighed, but smiled half-heartily. And this is how I spent my Friday night.
