Griffin launches into action.
He raises his hand and I can see the strain on his face.
Actually, anyone can. There are cameras. As if the gold bench wasn't enough. Show-offs.
A fireball forms on the tips of his fingers and then becomes bigger.
As he is doing this, Des throws his arm any which way, sending his healer...um..stuff into the ground.
What is he doing? That won't help.
Griffin launches the fireball in the direction of Des.
Oh,no. No,no.
Everything seems to be in slow motion. The moving of the fireball. The writing of the scorers. The crowd's changing of faces.
Everything.
Then, Des swiftly dodges the attack, and the fireball goes spiraling towards the fence.
They begin to circle around the arena.
"You won't hold out for long" ,Griffin states.
"I hope you're just talking to yourself,Griffin. No one likes a liar." Des responds.
Griffin snarls. "Let's see whose lying."
He forms another fireball. "I'm not giving up without a fight."
"Very cliche, Griffin. But I'll take it. I won't be going down so easily either." Des grins.
Griffin smirks and throws the fireball at Des. He jumps over it.
"What's your attack plan Des? What kind of moves will you lash out? I don't see how your healing powers will help you."
"We'll see." Des just said.
I grow nervous. What, really, can Des do?
Mandy whispers in my ear "This is so exciting. They both look so intense."
She grins at me. "Hot!"
I smile. Mandy can calm down my nerves.
I look over to the side. Carolyn and her fellow Arena Scorers are furiously writing, then looking over at Mandy.
Since the fight began, Mandy has been making weird hand signals, making the Arena Scorers write whatever she means. I don't get it.
"I have the best job. I watch the fight and signal what they're doing. Critical hits and misses. Des is very swift, although Griffin is very powerful."
I watch as Griffin plants a fireball into the ground. Mandy signals to the scorers.
"Bad aim. The scorers write this all down, to compare it to the practice they've been getting and the level they're on. It determines what power up they get at the end. It's all very important."
This is the most professional I've ever seen Mandy. These games must really be important to her.
"You're not even going to try to hit me Des?"
Griffin throws multiple fireballs.I can feel the heat of them from where I'm sitting.
"I have my own game plan."
"What is it, Des? Wait until time is up and then get a cowardly tie? At least I'm putting an effort."
"Shut up, Griffin." Sweat lines Des's brow.
"Maybe what your girlfriend needs is a real, tough guy like me. Not some boy who flees at the smallest sign of danger." The crowd gasps.
"Des!" ,I shout. I surprise myself. And everyone else.
