"Ugh, SCUM bag." Carolyn said, once I finished telling her about my last date with Roger.

"No,no, Roger's really nice." I said.

"You don't get it. You know that date you had with him?" she asked.

"Yeah..."

"He had a date with me on the SAME day!" she screeched.

"WHAT!?" I yelled. "But he told me he loved me!"

Carolyn hit the steering wheel. "Ugh, I should've known! On and off girlfriend!"

Then, a thought hit me. "Is he part of our....um group?"

"No" ,Carolyn said."I'll explain later."

Lilly added, "He's such a dick."

High-fives all around.

Carolyn pulled up to the school parking lot. I saw Vicky talking to some girls I didn't know. I frowned.

"She's just jealous Rosie", Lilly said. "She's never had to share you. Except with Des. And he's a boy." She got out and ran to her friends across the street, where the middle school was. Sometimes Lilly was always so observant.

"I think.... you can try to..um... read her mind." Carolyn said.

"Oh, I couldn't do that." I said.

"But you really want to know." Carolyn said. She grinned. "And you need the practice."

I sighed. "I guess so."

I looked over at Vicky and concentrated my gaze on her. Mind reading was like a deep blue. You really can get lost in it.

'I can't believe this! Me and Rose never NEVER keep secrets from each other!'

Secrets?

'Well, for all I care, she can go hang out with her NEW FRIENDS! I'm not speaking to her.'

Aw, man.

I looked back at Carrie. She look at me.

"This is bad." she said, reading the expression on my face.

"Yeah..." I sighed. We got out  of the car, and, as I passed Vicky looked at me through narrowed eyes and laughed really loudly.

"That's SO funny, Shelia!" she yelped. But I could feel her hurt. Or maybe it was just mine.

"We.Are.Going.To.Find.Roger." Carolyn said, every new word with new anger.

"Umm...ok", I said. "You never told me how you were gonna take him to the thing on Saturday."

"Oh yeah" Carolyn said. "I was gonna brainwash him."

"WHAT!?"I said.

"There's a whole bunch of videos I was gonna tell him to see that would brainwash him. For the night anyway." She sighed.

As we walked down the hall, someone grabbed me by the waist. Des.

He kissed me. "Hey beautiful." He continued walking down the hall. "See ya later." He winked at me, which shot butterflies into my stomach. Or big, large, swooping bats.

"You're so lucky", Carolyn said.

"I guess." I couldn't argue with her. "Let's go find Roger."

We went to the computer room, where I haven't been much. I saw his stupid, ugly hair at one of the computers.

Carolyn stomped over to him. Uh-oh. She spun his chair around.

"Hey Carol- Oh."  Roger said when he saw me. I looked at him, disgusted. Two-timing NERD!

"We're OVER." Carolyn said. She raised her hand and slapped him across the face. I walked up to him.

"Roger, I know this must be a..." I said calmly.

Roger looked up at me hopefully.

"JERK!" I slapped him. And me and Carolyn walked out of the room.

When we had closed the door behind us, we high-fived. "Woo-hoo!" Carolyn said, running to her first class. "See ya later!"
