Des and I walked, hand in hand, to Dominic's, the cool restaurant Carolyn told me about. It was a cool old diner thing, like they had in the 70s or 80s or something.
I felt so happy I could just fly away.
When we got inside, I spotted Carolyn along with a few other people.
"Hi!" ,Carolyn yelled to us. "Come on over here! We were just about to order!"
I sat down next to Carolyn, Des on my other side.
"Let's introduce you to the group." Des said.
"Yeah." replied Carolyn. She started to point around the table.
"This is May and Jay, the Chinese twins."
A boy and a girl, both with straight black hair, brown eyes, and Asian features smiled at me.
"It is she, the-" May said, cut off by Jay who said "All-Keeper!"
Then they laughed simultaneously.
"Don't worry" May said, probably responding to my freaked-out look, "We never do that."
"At least not all the time!" yowled Jay.
The table laughed.
"We is the multipliers, yes?" Jay said. He and May showed me their citrines.
"We moved from China two year ago." May explained. "And we are already so good at the English!"
I laughed. "Quite."
Carolyn pointed to a girl with brown wavy hair and a boy with short cropped black hair.
"This is Rockelle. And the boy is Griffin."
They smiled at me. Rockelle said "Pleasure. Call me Rocky." She cradled her opal necklace and grinned. "Do you remember this one?"
I racked my brain. "Teleportation."
Rocky tapped her head with her finger. "Exactly."
The boy, Griffin, extended his hand towards me. I took it, and he leaned down and KISSED it.
"Beautiful, your always welcome here." He winked.
Des narrowed his eyes. Uh-oh. He wrapped his arm around me.
'Des, is someone jealous?' I thought gleefully.
'I see your enjoying yourself,' Des said.
'Haha, very much thank you'
I turned around to face him. 'Oh, you know I love you.' I let the feeling spread to my whole self. Des smiled and relaxed his grip on me.
"Oh my gosh!" Carolyn gasped. "You're SPing!"
I smiled. "Yeah."
This time, Griffin's eyes narrowed.
"That is so cool! How does it feel like?" Rocky asked.
"The best feeling in the world" Des replied and smiled at me.
"You know" Griffin commented. "SPing can always be broken."
May looked at him pointedly.
"What?" he asked. "Just saying."
The table again resumed normal conversation, something about a power gathering.
"It's great" Carolyn gushed. "Everyone preforms something with their powers. It's great to see. And then after, there's a dance."
I looked around the table. "Cool. What school do you guys go to?"
"Oh" Rocky commented. "Griffin and I go to San Andrew's."
"Me and Jay take online classes" May said.
"I go to your school", Carolyn laughed. "I'm always in the computer lab, though."
"Hey, you know Rosie" Griffin said. "Rocky and I already graduated. So we're going to your graduation on Thursday."
I forgot about my graduation on Thursday. There was going to be a pre- and post- party.
"ROSSIEEEE!" a familiar voice shouted across the room. Mandy. She was followed in by Lydia. Bleh. I didn't mind Mandy, but I sure didn't want to be with Lydia.
"Hi!" ,Mandy said, bringing a chair to our side of the table. Lydia did the same, but scooted Mandy over so she would be sitting next to Des. Ugh.
Lydia looked over at me and Des.
"DES!" She said, totally fake enthusiastically. "How's the hunk doing?"
Des shifted uncomfortably in his seat and laughed nervously.
"I see you've hooked up with Rosie." Lydia commented through her narrow eyes.
"We're SPing", Des said.
"Oh, how NICE!" Lydia exclaimed. But I knew she was fuming.
'Lydia's trying to get to you' Des thought. 'She's very jealous.'
'Yeah, I know. But she can't compete with our love.'
'Right', Des grinned. 'Rosie?'
'Yes?'
'Will you be my date to the power festival?'
'Was I going with anyone else?'
'What about Griffin?'
'Never.'
He smiled.
Carolyn waved a hand in front of my face. "My gosh!" She laughed.
"So" I asked the table. "You all have a date for the Power Festival?"
May laughed. "I go with Jay, but not as a date."
Rocky smiled. "I'm taking someone."
Mandy joined in. "I'm going with my friend, Tom! But I was hoping we could hang as well? Can we?! Right?"
"Right, of course," I laughed.
"I'm going with a college keeper I picked up." Lydia said smoothly.
Carolyn rolled her eyes.
"And as for me", Griffin said, "As long as your going gorgeous, I don't need a date." And he winked at me.
Then, our waitress came up, and the conversation stood to a halt with the promise of very appetizing food.
