"You can be a jerk sometimes, Rosie."
Des and I were in the docks, sitting down on the wood hoosywhatsit. I have no idea what's it called. The plank thingy?Maybe it's actually called a dock, and I'm just stupid.
I told Des about the exciting experience that was this afternoon. He understood, of course, but he still was going to tease me about it. I mean, what are friends for? I looked up at the sky, a navy dark, littered with stars.
"Oh, Great Master of Stars, what the heck are those?" He pointed.
I looked up. "Oh!" I said, excited. "Those are the Seven Sisters. They say those stars are always traveling the world together!"
He squinted. "Nice. I wonder if any of them are hot?"
I punched him in the shoulder. "Only you would want to date a freakin star in the sky."
"Hey, a man can dream."
"Um, shouldn't you be saying a BOY? Your only a man IN YOUR DREAMS."
Now it was my turn to get punched in the shoulder. But Des never did it too hard.
I ran my fingers through the water, lying down on my back. "Give me a massage?"
"As if" Des said, laughing.
"Hey, look! There's the moon!", he said.
Des always had this obsession with the moon. But hey, it is pretty. Or handsome. Who knows the gender of the moon?
It was a full moon this time, big and large and white with black specks. Des joined me laying down on the deck.I could see the necklace he always wore, a peridot. He liked to keep it hidden under his t-shirt so his friends wouldn't call him a sissy. Or something worse.
Suddenly, my fingers caught something that wasn't water.
"Oh my gosh, look!"
Des stared down at my hands. "It... can't be.."
"Someone must have dropped it! Score!"
Des still looked at it in wonder.
In my hands was a moonstone necklace. It was the prettiest thing I had ever seen. It was all milky, and there were there metal moons on the side with beautiful carvings on it. I felt the cold (and kind of wet) necklace. It was cool in my hands. Suddenly, it started to glow. Bewildered, I almost dropped it, if it hadn't been for Des who caught it. And then I saw it. The stars. They MOVED. Des pointed it out to me. They now SPELLED(yes, SPELLED): This is your destiny.
Woah. WOAH,WOAH WOAH. And this whole time, Des was there, sitting calmly. And then he said
"Welcome to the society."
