"Always late."

_______________

"Cora!" Penny yelled down the hall and Cora groaned as she woke up, her younger sister's high voice piercing through her ears. "It's 7 o'clock!" She called and Cora sat up in her bed, looking at her clock.

7:03am.

She rolled out of bed and went to get dressed, but caught herself in the mirror. "Shit, man.." She mumbled when she saw her messy blonde hair in a rat's nest. She rubbed her eyes, the previous days mascara rubbing around before she trudged to the bathroom.

Brushed her teeth, tamed her hair into two Dutch braids, washed her face, and did the basics for makeup so she didn't look like she died last night.. but there was no way she could cover that bruise on her cheek bone. It was faint, but was still there. She sighed and walked to her room, tossing on a loose white sweater and dark blue skinny jeans. She grabbed a pair of black runners and tied them before she grabbed her backpack and walked downstairs.

"Morning," Cora greeted as she dropped her bag beside the kitchen table and her Dad looked over at her.

He gave her a small smile, but then he noticed her bruise. "Where did you get that from, kiddo?" He asked and Cora shrugged.

"Fell off my bed last night and hit the edge of my nightstand. Hurt like a bitch." Cora replied as her dad made her some breakfast. Cora's mom walked out about 6 years ago and she never saw her since, but her and Penny were just fine with their dad.

Her dad simply laughed at his oldest daughter, "you're such a klutz." He said and Cora smiled, shrugging a bit as her dad handed her a plate of eggs and toast.

Penny came down the stairs, staring at her tablet. Penny was 7, and was drastically different from Cora. Cora was very laid-back and joked a lot, she isn't very popular, and she spends her Fridays studying instead of partying. At most, she has Michelle over and they make fun of vines.

Penny on the other hand was very outgoing, she was on 3 sports teams, and unlike Cora who was indirectly sassy, Penny never hesitated. Her Fridays were spent with her friends having typical 2nd grade slumber parties.

"Hey, Pen." Their dad said and she put her tablet back in her backpack before sitting next to Cora.

"Morning daddy," she smiled as he handed her the breakfast and the small family began eating. Cora's bus came before Penny's, so she would have to rush a bit, shoving the scrambled eggs into her mouth. "God, slow down." Penny commented and Cora glared playfully as she finished her food.
