"I've never killed anyone, but people
do get severely hurt."

Cora got beat up pretty bad last night.

First, she helped the person who screamed, and the criminal gave a good fight so her torso was covered in bruises. The second person she fought decked her twice in the face, so her left cheek had a dark bruise. The third person had a goddamn knife, and her hand got a small cut. Thankfully, nothing else.

It wasn't hard for her to cover her torso and arms, she threw on a loose blue sweater this morning and a pair of black leggings before school. She couldn't cover that bruise on her cheek though, which was bigger than the one she had on Tuesday and she used the excuse that she fell off her bed. Thankfully, she avoided her family this morning and got out the door before they had even seen her.

Cora walked up to her locker in the morning, the sweater she had on hanging off one of her shoulders. She opened her locker and tossed her bag in, Michelle walking up and noticing the dark bruise on her best friend's pale face and her tired eyes.

"Dude, oh my god.." Michelle mumbled and Cora looked at her, "where the fuck did you get that from?" Michelle asked as she opened her own locker.

"Some guy with steel knuckles decked me last night.. arms are covered too," Cora explained as she got her chemistry books out. She winced as the hardcover of the book touched her arm, but dealt with it and shut her locker.

"Peter is gonna be asking you about that in chemistry, Co," Michelle mentioned and Cora furrowed her eyebrows.

"Why?"

"He cares a lot about everyone. One time my cat scratched my face and he thought I was mugged." Michelle laughed as they walked to class.

Cora just shook her head and giggled. Michelle and Peter were both on Decathlon, and they were friendly acquaintances. Cora only knew Peter through the CS project and she was beside him in chemistry. She also had P.E with him, but they never talked then. If it wasn't for the project they had, they probably would've never talked to each other.

"I don't know how I'm gonna cover myself in P.E.." Cora sighed, glancing at Michelle.

"I have a long sleeve gym shirt, you can wear that one and I'll wear your short sleeve." Michelle offered and Cora grinned a bit.

"Thanks, MJ."

Michelle only nodded before they walked into chemistry and Cora walked right to the back of the room and sat beside Peter, who was writing in his notebook.

"Hey Pete," she smiled a bit, and he looked at her with those brown eyes of his. He looked a bit tired as well, but he always did. She knew he was a good student, so he probably studied all night.
