It had been 4 days since that odd dinner at the empty Italian restaurant. Cora found herself trying to make all of the family's meals, and if her mother cooked, she would find an excuse to leave the house. Over time, she noticed her sister and father acting off. They seemed so.. relaxed. Cora hasn't argue with Penny ever since her mother arrived last week, and her Dad no longer seemed tense. They weren't them.
Cora was currently explaining all of this to Peter, and he was growing more concerned for her by the second. How could he not? It seemed like her mother had tried to drug her just days ago, and her family was acting weird ever since her mother arrived. Christmas in two days, and Cora didn't know how she was going to avoid Christmas dinner.
"You know," Peter started, "May and I just make strawberry pancakes and hot chocolate for Christmas dinner, since it's just the two of us. We just make that, sit here and watch old Christmas movies. I'll ask her if you can join us." He suggested, Cora looking up at him.
"Are you sure?" She asked. "It kind of seems like your thing together."
Peter grinned, "I'm sure. Either way, May might be working in the evening, so you won't be butting in if that's what you're thinking."
Cora gave a smile, "you're the best." She said, grateful to have Peter. She knew May liked her too, so it really shouldn't be a problem. She would've gone to Michelle's, but their house was packed at Christmas time.
Checking the time, Cora realised it was around 3 in the afternoon, and she had to go to Penny's hockey game at 4. "I've gotta go, Pete. Penny has a game in an hour." She said and got up off the couch, where they had just been watching Phineas & Ferb for 2 hours because they both thought it was hilarious.
"Alrighty." Peter said and followed her to the door, waiting for her to get her jacket on. Once she had, she pulled Peter into a tight hug. It didn't take him by surprise, she started doing this every time after they hung out.
"Thank you."
"For what?" Peter asked, looking down at her. His arms were wrapped around her torso, her's around his waist.
"Letting me come here, and letting me talk about everything. It's like a safe haven." Cora said with a small laugh as she parted from the hug. "I'll hopefully see you Tuesday, for Christmas 'dinner'." She said, opening the door to leave.
"Of course, it's a date." Peter grinned before he realised what he said, his face flushing a red colour and Cora turning to look at him with raised brows. "That's not- I mean-" he stammered, Cora shaking her head.
