"If you say one more science pun, I'll jump
out the window."

_______________

Swinging from building to building, Peter tried to keep up with Violet Knight. She could jump the distance of two buildings, three if she really pushed, but Peter could only shoot webs and swing so fast.

It was Thursday night, around 11 pm. There wasn't much action for about two hours until they got a tip from Karen that there was a problem on 55th Avenue, but she was unsure of what. Peter and Cora went anyway, hoping it wasn't anything too big.

Cora came to a halt on a building, her violet eyes going round when she saw a fire in an apartment complex. "Hey uh, Spidey!" She called, Peter climbing up to the roof and seeing the fire. "Is that thing heat resistant?" She asked, gesturing to his suit.

"Oh- yeah, yeah I think so."

"You think so?" Cora asked, but shook her head. "Fuck it. We don't have a lot of time, I'll cover the top floor because there are more fire and leather is more resistant than that spandex thing you've got. Meet back here when everyone is clear from your floor."

"It isn't spandex-"

"Shut up and get to it, boy!" Cora snapped, sick and tired of his constant defensive comments. She took a leap and landed on the roof of the apartment building, finding the door that would lead her to the top level, where the fire had started. The flames were literally up against the windows, she would be lucky to find anyone alive. The firefighters on the street could only do so much.

Peter, on the other hand, wasn't entirely sure if May would approve of this. He did say he would only avoid guns.. and flames weren't guns.

Without questioning himself anymore, he swung down and broke through a window on the middle level. He heard screams and he looked around, seeing two small children tucked in a corner and staring at him with wide eyes.

"Hey guys," Peter said, "listen, okay? There's a fire upstairs and you need to get out. Where are your parents?" He asked them, knowing the fire would reach this level soon since the firefighters only had a limited amount of hoses and the fire wasn't going out.

"They're not home!" The older of the two told him, and Peter sighed.

"Okay, c'mon." He said and grabbed their hands, leading them to the door. "Karen, is the fire nearby?" He asked, speaking to the AI.

"who's Karen?" The little boy asked, and Peter could only ignore it so he could hear Karen.

"It's spread through the stairwell and into the hallway, Peter."
