Leaving my room, I went in the kitchen to complete silence. It had to be nearing noon by now, so I knew Nicole and Rick were already gone about their days. For a moment, I thought of doing something kind for them. I mean, they deserved something big. But what?
Sitting at the table, I stirred my coffee and bit into my bagel. I need to start eating actual food again when I'm in the house, but my stomach gurgling decided that wasn't about to happen. Scrolling through my news feed, I stopped when a text came through. It was from Anthony telling me to check my mailbox and he'd be here in a few minutes.
Perplexed, I put on my robe and went to the front door. Slowly walking down the entrance way, I went to the mailbox, and surely there was a stack of mail. I took it back in the house, tossing it on the table.Looking through the mall, I stopped a tone gold encrusted envelope. On it read "University OF California, Los Angeles" . My breath hitched for a moment as excitement took over me. Anthony and I sent our applications in months ago. This was one of the best , no the best, college for both Anthony and I. I would be majoring in Business Administration and minoring in Dance. Anthony wanted to major in Physical Therapy and minor in Creative Writing.
Someone knocked on the door, and by he obnoxious beat I knew it was Anthony. Tightening my robe around me, I checked my hair in the mirror as I opened the door. He was holding an envelope identical to mine.
"I don't know whether it being in a envelope this large could be good or bad." I said as we both sat at the dining room table.
"Let's hope good...One three?" I nodded my head. "Okay. One...two...three..."
For the next few seconds all you heard was the sound of paper being ripped. I finally got my open after little struggle, and a paper cut. I took a deep breath, reading the first few lines to the letter.
Dear Miss Autumn August, It is my pleasure as well as the staff of University of California, Los Angeles, to welcome to our facility for the class of 2016. Due to your outstanding academic reputation, as well as dedication to the dance team, and progress to Nationals, we would like to offer you a Full Ride.
I stopped reading there, as the screams I held in bubbled to the surface and escaped from my mouth. The chair behind me fell back as I jumped up and down. Before I knew it, Anthony had jumped up too and had his arms wrapped around me.
"Academic." I told him, holding him as if he were my life source.
"Athletic." He responded.
And everything felt right. We would be going to college together, both with full scholarships. We didn't have to depend on family, and we didn't have to worry about being separated.
We would be together forever.

Later that day, around five, I had to meet my team at a dance studio about two miles from my house. We had to officially assign everyone what they would do. Since the competition would be three days long, there was a lot we had to do. Not only were my perfectionist ways in full effect, but this was the finals, and knowing my college would be watching- I had to assure we won. And that means making sure the right people do the right dances.
Pulling into a parking space close to the door, I grabbed my bag and exited the car. I entered the studio, searching for a few minutes before finding the room designated to us. I was glad to see everyone already there, warming up.
"Aye," I dropped my bag on the floor and immediately went to the CD Player to put ours in. "Who else hyped about this?"
"Not as hyped as I am for you and Anthony." Jessica said. "Congratulations, Baby."
