I walked up to my seat to find Cara smirking at me too.

"W-what happened?" I whispered to her.

"I'll tell you after class gets over. We don't have chemistry next hour. The teacher is on leave." She whispered back.

"Okay. But what did I do to earn everybody's gazes on me?"

"I ain't telling you till this class ends. Sorry for the suspense, babe." Cara said, winking at me.

We were soon interrupted by our physics teacher, who looked really annoyed by our little talk at the back.

"Want to share your little secret with the class, Ms. Rey and Ms. Jones?"

"N-no sir. We're sorry. It won't happen again." Cara said, firmly.

"You better make sure to zip your mouths or you both will be getting detention as well." He said, in an icy tone.

Huh. How mean.

I couldn't concentrate for the rest of the class.

Calvin smirked at me. The whole class stared at me with some kind of amused look. Cara smirked at me like an idiot.

What did all of these mean? What were they up to? I wondered and blindly copied some key words written on the board.

I was brought back to my senses when the bell rang, deafening my ears.

Ava turned to me and said, "Oh. My. Freaking. God!!!! You sing so welllll!!!!!!!!!!! Why didn't you tell us that you could sing, huh?"

"Wait....what? H-how did you-" I stopped mid way, realising something.

Did Cara do something? Did she videotape me singing and post it on our class group? But...I didn't see her videotaping anything yesterday.... I thought, not able to connect the dots.

"How did we get to know? Is that what you are wondering? Well, let me enlighten you, Carmen." Luke said, sitting beside me, taking out his phone and fishing through his gallery for videos.

A video started playing, which caught me off guard. It indeed was me, singing and playing the piano with my eyes closed and lost into the song. My eyes widened when the video ended.

I turned to Cara, who looked at me sheepishly.

"You were so engrossed into the song and the fact that you were closing your eyes gave me the unmissable opportunity to videotape it and post it on our class group."

Was 'unmissable' even a word?... I thought.

"Well? Why did you do it?" I asked her, with a tinge of annoyance in my tone.

"Your talent is exceptional, Rey. It needs to be upstaged. And we all loved it. Every bit of it, Rey." She said.

"Why did you have to post it?" I whined.

"Why not?" Luke asked.

"Because- ugh! I don't know, okay? It was just a song, Cara. And I was singing like a crow." I stated drily.

"Oh please, Carmen. You sing so well. Your voice has magic in it. Take your talent a step forward." Ava said.

"Your voice is too good, Rey. But the question is, why do you feel so insecure in accepting the fact that you sing well, huh?" Luke asked me.

I just shrugged.

I wasn't that kind of a girl who wore her heart on her sleeve or the bold outlook kind of girl. I was the kind of girl who was like the hidden fire in the ashes. I hadn't told anyone about what my talents were or what I could do or what I was really good at. But I wasn't shy.
