"All right, class. Let's wind up for the day and don't forget to submit your reviews about the chapter." Said Mrs. Corbin, our English literature teacher.
That was the last class for the day and within a minute, all of us stormed out of our class, heading towards the hallway of our lockers.
I was taking out my literature notes and closing the door of my locker but a slip fell off from one of the shelves of my locker which caught my eye.
It was a note. Written in a not-so-legible handwriting.
Meet me under your favourite tree. Wanna speak to you so badly. I'll be waiting:)
-you know who;)Ah. I definitely knew who it was.
"Ooh! Rey, who's that secret admirer, huh?" Cara questioned me, with that I-know-who-it-is look.
I rolled my eyes at that and said, "My admirer? No chance."
"All right. Whoever it is, you better finish your talk with your secret admirer soon, okay? Its getting colder by the minute and you're not supposed to fall sick, especially now, considering the fact that you're taking part in the music fest. Get it? Now off you go." She said, grinning at me.
"Okay, mom. Are you planning to wait for me?"
"Of course. You better finish your business soon." She said and we walked out of our school.
He was already there, standing under my favourite tree, with his dark red hoodie and blue jeans with his Nike shoes on, looking so good.
I smiled at him as I walked upto him.
"Knock knock." He said.
"Who's there?" I said, playing along.
"You know." He replied.
"You know who?" I said, not being tired of doing this knock knock thing with him for a millionth time.
"Exactly. Its me. You know who." He replied with a grin which reached up to his chestnut brown eyes.
"Well, hello there, Mr. You know who. What brings you here?" I asked, in my natural British accent.
"I'm here for...um...a little chat with my favourite person." He said, trying to sound British.
But he was no way near to that which caused me to laugh loudly, clutching my stomach.
"Its not funny, Caramel. At least I tried. For you. You've got to appreciate it." He pouted.
"Aww! Its so cute when you pout. C'mon, pout again, Cal." I blurted out in between my laughter.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." He gave me the dry look.
"You called me what?" He asked again.
"Um...I called you Cal. I won't call you that if you're not okay with it. Its no problem really."
"Hey, no, I didn't mean that. Its cute when you call me that. I love it." He said, flashing me his famous thousand watt smile.
"Okay, agreed. What's up, Cal?"
"Nothing much, Caramel. Didn't speak to you the whole day and I swear it was so boring without you talking to me."
Aw..why is this guy so cute and so sweet? And there's something happening to me... For sure... I thought.
"Aw, man! I know right! Me too! You'll be busy with your friends while I be busy with mine. I think this is the only time we can talk."
"True that. Well, I was thinking, you know, um, maybe we can hangout during lunch, if you're okay with it. I mean, its just a suggestion though."
"That's great, Cal! We could do that. I'm totally okay with it. And you're okay with it too, right?"
"Yup! When you're early, wait for me. When I'm early, I'll wait for you. Sounds good?"
I nodded eagerly.
"So...how's your music practice coming along?"
"Its going good. As usual."
"Can't wait to see you perform on stage."
________________________________________________________I walked back home with Cara.
She was right. Just around five thirty in the evening, it looked like it was seven in the night and it was snowing heavily.
I made myself a cup of hot chocolate and settled on my bed with my English literature notes, to complete the review of the chapter.
My phone was right beside me, playing some random EDM.
I just couldn't stop thinking about Calvin. He was so sweet, flirty at times, caring all the time and what not!
He made me feel special and everyday in the morning, he was one of the reasons why I got out of my bed and got dressed for school.Well, I wasn't quite sure of how I felt about him but, I was sure that he brought out the real me. The inner me whom I hid from everyone. Well, most of them, to be precise.
He made me laugh. He cheered me up when I was drained and out of charm. He was so good. He had broken all the walls I had built around me. He found the real me.
I smiled more, laughed more and I felt better than the previous day. My feelings for Jamie had already faded away. I had moved on, with the help of time, Cara, Luke and Calvin, of course.
I was slowly opening up more to Calvin. I felt secure around him and the best part was that he didn't judge me. At all. He accepted me for being me.
I still remembered what he had told me the other day.
You don't have to hide the inner you, Caramel. I love the way you are. You're original and that's much better. You're unique and you're amazing.
It warmed my heart whenever I remembered those sweet words of his.
I felt different. A good different.
Something in me had changed.
Something was in the air. Yes.
