I headed straight to my room to get changed.

It was finally time to confront my parents.

I couldn't hold it in me any longer.

I changed into my T-shirt and shorts, walking to the living room with the picture in my pocket.

I had a huge fake smile on my face.

They were sitting on the couch with some ice cream in their bowls.

I swear my expression will be as cold as ice, when the truth is out... I thought and sat in the couch across them.

I wanted to give as much as dramatic effects as possible.

"Hey Mom! Hey Dad!" I sounded like Cheryl Blossom from Riverdale.

Sickly sweet.

"Hey Honeybunch! We're so proud of you, baby." Dad said, trying to sound cheerful.

"You should be, Dad." I sharply replied.

They were shocked by my reply.

Never in my seventeen three quarters years of my life I had talked that way to them.

"Want some?" Mom asked, holding out her ice cream bowl towards me.

"No, thanks." Again, I had done it.

There was silence.

Well, it was calm before the storm. Definitely.

"So..." Dad said.

"I can't beat around the fucking bush. So I'm coming straight to the point. And I'm not even sorry about my language." I said, as coldly as possible.

Mom froze. So did Dad.

Ha! Plan's working, girl! Bring it on! My inner voice encouraged me.

I reached for my pocket and took out the picture.

I held it in front of their faces.

Their faces drained out all the colors and turned pale.

"I honestly don't know what kind of lie you're possibly weaving in your minds but I'll know if you lie. Don't you think that I deserve to know the truth?"

I glared at them all that while. Mom was really horrified then. Dad tried to maintain his calm and composed expression but his eyes were giving it all away.

"W-where did you g-get the picture?" Dad asked, not averting his gaze to anything else.

Mom looked like she was going to some kind of trance.

"It doesn't matter now, does it?" I retorted.

"H-how-"

"You can think about how I got the picture later. Now tell me."

"Tell me Mom! Tell me Dad! I deserve to know every bit of the truth!" I yelled.

Looking at my reaction, my parents couldn't take it. It looked like they had a heart attack when they saw me yell at them. For the first time ever.

"Why are you still silent, huh? Spill everything out." I said, in a deadly tone.

"Carmen, you need to calm-"

"After all that's happened in my life, you ask me to calm down, eh? You don't know how things are going on in my life and the fact that you both are hiding something huge from me isn't helping at all." I declared, cutting my Dad off.

"We didn't mean to hide anything from you, Carmen." Mom muttered.

Huh. Lies. Liar alert!

"Then what are you waiting for? Pour your dark secrets out." I commanded.

"We're scared that you may not handle the truth well-" Mom started but I stopped her.

"That's upto me. You are no one to decide that." I sneered.

My parents blinked hard.

"I'm waiting, you know? I've got to go to school tomorrow. I need to wake up early in the morning. So you both better make it quick." I ordered.

Dad sucked in a sharp breath and started to speak.

"Okay, so, the truth is that you have an elder brother. You're not the only child to us."

My. Heart. Stopped.
