Chapter 37 - Step Love

Jess' POV

"She wants a great gesture!" I told Niall.

I told him everything about the conversation between me and Meg yesterday and i told him how Meg feels. I know i shouldn't help him and i should let him figure that out by himself but honestly guys can be so clueless sometimes.

"A great gesture?" He asked. I nodded. "But what should i do?"

"I don't know. You gotta figure that out by yourself. Just don't do something really corny because she'll think you're just doing it to get her back not because you really care about her, you know? Do something thoughtful. Girls like small things too, as long as she can tell you put a lot of effort into it," i said. Our conversation didn't last any longer because i had to leave soon.

Niall's POV

I had a really long conversation with Jess and she told all about how Meg feels and to be honest i do agree with Jess's opinion: I'm gonna make the same mistake twice. I don't care if me and Meg don't end up well. She's worth a try.

Now she wants me to do something to prove that i'm worth it too. But what should i do? I am really clueless about this. I only have one chance and i don't want to mess it up.

Seriously, how many times in life do you get kidnapped by a really wonderful girl which you happen to fall in love with?

Jess' POV

There's something i really have to do because if i don't i'm sure i'll regret it.

I went at Harry's room and luckily he was there.

"Harry?" I asked. "Can i talk to you?"

"Sure," he said as he scratched the back of his head.

"I need to tell you something," i said.

"Go ahed."

"Listen, you're a really special person to me. Honestly. You didn't even try, you didn't even do anything, you never even gave me a second glance and i can't find a good reason why i feel this way, but i like you. I really like you. I don't expect you to like me back. I just needed to say that," i said and for some reason my body decided to squeeze my eyes shut.

The next moment weren't like you were imagining them. It didn't happen like in the movies. It wasn't half bad, honestly, but it wasn't like it was supposed to happen.

"Well i'm actually really glad you feel that way. And maybe if you give me the chance i might soon feel the same way about you," he smiled.

"You mean that?" I asked. "You don't find it 'fangirl-ish' the fact that i came here to tell you that?"

"Actually not at all. It was really brave. Usually guys make the first move but the last time i did that i got rejected. But this time at least i got an advantage, right?" He winked and i blushed.

"Yes, yes you do," i said. "And please don't waste it."

He just warmly smiled. It looked either like he was promising me he wouldn't or like he found the fact that i thought he would stupid.

"You know, there's actually another problem getting in the way," he said and i immediately started thinking about anything that could possibly be wrong. "We're kind of step siblings."

"Then it'd be better if we didn't rush into things," i said.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

"Do you really think my dad's gonna stay married for long?" I asked. "They're probably gonna break up next month, that's what always happens. I have like two other step moms!"

Meg's POV

I gathered everybody in the first floor.

{ (a/n): i've read that in Britain they call the first floor 'ground floor' but in this book i refer to the first floor simply as 'first floor'. So 1st floor is 1st floor. }

"So, as you know Ryan's party is coming soon," i said. "It's this saturday," i added. "And everybody's asking if you guys are performing there. We've been discussing this for a long time and the only thing left to do is ask you guys if you want to," i finished.

"You know, we don't really perform without getting paid," Liam said.

"Oh c'mon Liam, she's Harry's sister! Would you make your sisters pay for your performance!" Zayn said. Apparently Claire has told him a little more than he is supposed to know.

"What?" Liam and Louis and Niall asked. They're the only ones that don't know. I don't even remember why we didn't tell them.

"She's my sister," Harry said. "Like, from the same mother and father," he added.

"So Anne is her mother too?" Liam asked.

"No. Anne isn't my biological mother," he said.

I looked over at Niall for a moment to catch his reaction. I had mentioned my brother before at him and he finally found out who he is.

"Dude, why didn't you tell us before. I though we were kidnapped!" Niall said.

"Actually we are kidnapped. I found out she's my sister after that. It's a funny story, i'll tell you some other time," Harry said.

"Since we're all making announcements here.." Sam started saying, "i think it's time we tell him," Sam looked at me. I nodded.

"Harry," i said, "there's some news you need to know.... Well, Sam is kind of your sister too."

"What? So i have three sisters right now? You know last month i used to be a single kid!" He said.

"Why three?" Louis asked. "Maybe i'm doing the math wrong but Meg plus Sam equals two."

"Jess i also my sister at the moment. Well, my step sister. Her dad and my mom are getting married," Harry explained.

"Lots of things have happened," Louis said.

"My dad's getting married too!"'Sam said. "But that doesn't affect us in any way," she added.

"So back to Ryan's party," i said before anyone else could comment on what Sam said. "If you guys don't perform for free it's ok we can pay you. Since Ryan probably can't afford it."

"I'm not gonna take money from my sisters," Harry said.

"Ok, but the others are kind of not my brothers so..." I said.

"It's ok we don't want money either, but i think you should talk to Simon first to see if it's ok for us to perform," Louis said.

"He's not gonna answer his phone. He never answers on week days," Zayn said.

"It's ok. It's just a small party, we don't need Simon's permission," Liam said.

"Well then it's settled," i said.

(A/n): so since this is the second last chapter i'm trying to solve everything. The next chapter is gonna be the last one. I can't believe i've come so far :D
