L.A, 2001

As Taylor getting recover, I try to keep myself busy. I can't just sitting home, doing nothing. So I go a lot with Josh, visiting good ol times as a drummer. We play till I forget about Foo Fighters after all. I got on their album, so... Don't blame me. I enjoy my time with them. Meeting new people and else.

On some chances, Aubrey keep me informed about Taylor. She told me he's getting better but I can't say the same about her. She was sounded distress or something. I wanna ask, but I don't think it's a good thing. As this morning when she called from her home with Taylor, I can hear her voice kinda cracked during our conversation but she played it cool. I have no idea what she's hiding.

"Look, I think I should be back to my band. Can I get time?" I talk to Josh, asking for some time to record something with my guys. Picking some stuff that we left before. Continue what we were signing for. "Is he ready?"
"Who?"
"Taylor."
"Ah, his girl told me he already better. We should work it out but I'm sure he's okay to go."
"Well, okay then. When will you start?"
"I have to see them this month but maybe it will take around next month till December. That's good?"
"Yup. That's fine. Hope the best for you dude." We shared a hug before I go back to DC and see the boys tomorrow.

It's already half an hour I wait for them at this dine. I keep looking at the clock and tapping my feet on the floor. "Hey! Sorry I'm late. Where's Nate or Taylor?" Chris sit in front of me and look around us. "Nope. Just me. You're the first."
"Oh okay. Is that true you want us to record again?"
"Yeah. I've been thinking, the time I played with Josh. I feel guilty about doing nothing on this project and go play with others. Foo Fighters should comes first. The rest are side projects."
"What about Taylor? Already better?"
"From what I hear, he is. I called Aubrey a couple times while he was in recovery."
"Well, that's good to hear." He take a sip of my coffee and then look at me. "Oh, sorry. That's yours." I giggles. "No, no. That's fine. I don't mind."

10 minutes and we hear a bell ringing from the door and we see Nate is coming. "Sorry guys. I was picking up Taylor but he's kinda....off."
"What do you mean? I told Aubrey about this meeting."
"I know. But it seems like they were just fighting or something. I'm not sure he will come." I sigh, so my intuition was right. That's why she sounded like that on phone.

"Well, if that's the case. I guess we need to going on without him today." I pull out my notes and about to talk when I see Taylor comes, walking to us. "Hey! Taylor! I thought you're not gonna come?"
"Yeah. Almost. Don't worry Dave. I'm here now. What do you want?" Both Nate and Chris staring to each other, like they're shocked or something. "Whoaa. What's wrong dude? Chill." I say to him. "Nothing. I'm chilling like usual." He says with a cold tone. I want to ask him further but I change my mind.

It's more than two weeks already since we ask Clairine a favor. We start to lose hope to see her again. Maybe she just won't back here and love to stay abroad. "You think she's gonna back?" Out of nowhere Taylor ask me the question that I think about right now. But Nate and Chris quickly notice the question and Nate looks at me, like asking for answer. "Who you two are talking about?" And Chris follows, lifting his chin, waiting for either me or Taylor to say something. I insist. "Aubrey."
"Whoa.. hold on a second. I thought you guys lost contact with her." Nate kinda surprised. "Yeah, we did. The worst part is.. she's also not living here. She's in Australia. Me and Dave just found out two weeks ago."
"What did you do? Why you guys looking for her? It's been five years. Isn't it?"
"We just need a closure. Taylor got the idea when we were on Grammys. On the napkin conversation. If you two remember.

We are back on the studio, getting ready for another start when I notice Taylor bring a bad vibe upon us all. For the whole months. I was pissed by him, and one thing leads to another. I got my bad mood and in result, I had an argument with Nate about his bass line. "Oh, just shut up Nate. That's just not good."
"What the fuck do you want me to do?"
"I don't know. Just do something about it. Also if you can tell that boy to stop pissing me, that would be great." I say, pointing my finger to Taylor. "What? Did I do something?" He says with cocky face that I swear I want to puch really bad. "We're done for today. I'm done." Nate says, bursting out from the studio.

"Guys? I didn't record anything yet. What about that?" Chris literally confused and I don't blame him. "Sorry Chris. Maybe not today. We will see for a day and you will play. Okay?" He sighs and nods.

After Nate left earlier, Taylor is also leaving. And it's just me and Chris behind. "If you wanna go too, that's fine. I'll put back cables and shit."
"No. I'll help. In times like these, you have to cool-minded as much as you can." His words just stuck on me. Times like these?

"I think we should go somewhere. Record on different location. You know, just to have a fresh view." He says to me as he rolls back cables. "What about L.A?" He adds. "I hate being there, Chris. You know that."
"Yeah, but we can try. Just an idea. If you don't like it, I'm cool with it."
"Umm.. L.A? I'll think about it."
