L.A, 2011

"Daaad? When will you take me to park?" I just open my eyes and find Violet is jumping on my bed, trying so hard to wake me up. "Oh hey... Like I promised honey, today we will go to park."
"Really???" She goes down to hug me with her tiny arms. That's adorable.
"Sure!!"

"Awww. Days out with Daddy, darling?" Jordyn shows up near the door frame with a wide smile. "Ahh, you know I promised them. I can't say no."
"I know." She giggles and then throw a towel to me. "Get ready."

Soon after I clean myself, I pick Violet and put her on my shoulder like she always like. And she's just holding on to my by grabbing my hair. "Am I your horse?"
"Yes, daddy is my horse." She says with such a cute tone. We walk to the kitchen and Jordyn is preparing our breakfast. It's usually me who cook in the morning, but I guess I almost overslept. I was really tired last night, especially after I left hospital.

"I'm sorry I'm up late." I say to her. "That's okay. You seems tired and I don't want to wake you up. But Violet..." She giggles, which makes me giggles myself. "I know... She can be really demanding." I say sarcastically and she laughs on that.

After all the food set, we all sit down and then when we're about to eat, we hear our phone is ringing.

"I got this." Jordyn get up and leave the table. Just minutes after that, she comes back with a different expression. "Dave..."
"Yeah honey?"
"Taylor is calling..."
"And?"
"He said Aubrey passed away." At that moment I hope that I misheard her. Somehow. But I know what I heard. I looks down, trying not to melt down. Jordyn walk to me and then hug me. "I know how much you care for her. If you need to go, that's fine."
"But Jordyn.. I promised Violet.."
"We're okay. I will take her. You should go." She smiles to me, give some kind of approval. "Taylor is still on the phone. You better pick it up." I step from my seat to the living room and get the phone. I take a deep breath.

"Yeah Taylor?"
"Hey. I bet you already knew so... Just straight to the point. Me and the band will go to see her for the last time."
"I'm going."
"Okay. I'll pick you up. And Dave.... Sorry to tell you this. Its hard for both of us."
"I know.. Even that's totally expected, I just.... I mean I just saw her yesterday. I was lying, I wasn't seeing a friend, I was seeing her because Clairine asked me to."
"Yeah, she told me about you. Also about that... Just so you know... She told me Aubrey passed just an hour after you left." If only I stay a little bit longer. I will be on her side before her last breath. I sigh before talk again. "I thought she was going to sleep... Turned out she wasn't."
"At least you saw her on her last moment. I didn't. But anyway, I'll be at your home in 10 minutes with others. Be prepared."
"Okay. Thanks Taylor." I hung up and sit on a couch, take a deep breath for awhile.

"Daaad? Are you crying?" I didn't see Violet enter the living room alone. "Hey.. no, it's just a dust on my eyes."
"Mommy said you can't go with us because you're sad."
"Mom said so?" I smile to her. "Okay, she's right."
"Why?"
"Ummm.. I lose my friend today. And don't get me wrong, even uncle Taylor is sad too." Then she sit on my lap and look at me, hug me. It's the cutest emphatic gesture ever. "Hope daddy will feel better."
"Sure honey. You know what? I feel better now. Thanks to you." I smile to her which she replies back to me. "Really?"
"Absolutely."

"You ready to go to park?" Suddenly Jordyn comes in with Harper on her arms. "Come on." She take Violet with a smile drawn on her face. I know how much support that I got from my daughter. "Be strong dad."
"I will honey." She waves to me and then hold Jordyn's hand that leads her to the car.
