xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxThe entire next week was filled with Casey and me rampaging through malls and hauling our items. Both of us were very excited for the trip. We would be staying at a hotel in Morocco for a week before we flew out to London and met my long lost grandmother there.
"Ugh! I'm so over shopping now! I'm gonna go home and get some sleep. Our flight leaves tomorrow afternoon at two. Don't forget! Bye!" Casey squealed as she headed out of my house with three full bags in her hands. "See you at eight!" I yelled back at her.
"Hey Rayne! Come in here for a minute!" My dad called out from his room. I went in and saw him sitting between a ton of paperwork and holding my passport with a small book in his hand. "Here's your passport. Now, I don't want you to lose it. No matter what. I have the phone numbers and address' of all hotels you'll be staying at throughout your trip. Along with the emergency numbers of the city. Anything goes wrong, you call..." I cut him short by hugging him tight. He took a second and hugged me back. "I'll be fine dad! Don't worry so much. I don't want your fabulous face to get wrinkled before you turn fifty."
He chuckled as he put me down. "Yes I know, baby. But still." He did really look worried. "It's fine daddy. Plus, Case will be there with me as well." He nodded. "Just be safe." I nodded back as I went to my bedroom.
Rayne.
-MomYes mom?
-RayI'm going to give you your grandma's number tomorrow morning, okay love?
-MomSure. When will I be meeting her?
-RayneShe says she'll call you when you land in London.
-MomOkay mom. I'm going to sleep now.
-RayneGood night honey.
-MomI put my phone down and realised that mom did tell me that morning that she'll be working late. I brushed my teeth, combed my hair, drank a tankful of water and went to bed. It took me a while, but I finally fell asleep.
At almost midnight, muffled voices woke me up. My mom was talking to a woman. It didn't sound like she was on the phone. More like, she was talking to her in person. I was too sleepy to get up and check who she was talking to. "I know..." I heard her say. "You have to come back, Sophie! You can't stay undercover forever. They'll find you. They'll find her!" The other voice said. "No they won't!" My mother snapped. "I'll die before they even as much as touch her. Plus, mother will keep her safe." I squinted my eyes open but was just greeted by darkness. My room door was cracked open a bit. "Now go before you wake her up." My mother said.
I was curious now. And I always let curiosity take the best of me. That night however, I did not want to get up and investigate. I wanted to know who my mom was talking to. I couldn't find the courage or strength to do it.
I kept waking up that night. Just thinking about our trip. As you can probably predict already, I was excited. I was also curious about the ordeal I had heard that night.
The darkness soon engulfed me.
