12 | the great news

EMMA AND JARED did not get caught, much to their surprise. They got off of the Supernatural set before anyone could arrive. While Jensen and Jared didn't actually have to show up to the set during the time around Christmas, there are still other people who show up there, to edit parts of the episodes and stuff.

Jensen arrives back from Texas a day early, which is the day after Christmas. Emma and Jared pretty much spent the whole time cuddled up in Emma's apartment, either watching movies or keeping themselves occupied in the bedroom. Ah, the honeymoon stage. Emma almost forgot how amazing it is.

On Christmas Day, Emma gave Jared a wrapped present which she had bought days earlier. They had not agreed to presents, but they both did it anyways. Jared got Emma a silver necklace with a star on it that looked way too expensive, even for an actor. Emma bought Jared the latest Harry Potter movie, a tie, and a note.

Well, the note was sort of a last resort. Emma does not think of herself as a good gift-giver, so she wrote Jared a note to make up for the crappy presents. Jared insisted that the presents were great, but took the note anyways, curious as to what it said.

When he realized it was a dirty note, he was so glad that he took it. Emma felt embarrassed about writing it and hesitated to give it to him, but honestly, it was his favorite present. He made sure to tell her that several times.

Jensen arrives on the day after Christmas, at exactly eleven in the morning.

"Guess who's back!" He announces his presence as he steps into Emma's apartment. Emma is glad she gets a week off for Christmas break, just like the boys.

"Hey!" She exclaims, hugging Jensen tightly. It's only been a few days since she's last seen him, but it feels like way longer.

"Aw, somebody missed me," Jensen teases as the two pull away from each other. "I thought your parents were coming," Jensen says, looking around curiously. Emma and Jared glance at each other uncomfortably.

"Uh, yeah, but they changed their minds," Emma says quickly. "Couldn't afford the tickets." This is a pathetic lie, Emma knows. Jensen is aware of how much money Emma's parents make. Of course, they'd be able to buy plane tickets.

Jensen raises his eyebrows and glances at Jared. The latter looks at him with pleading eyes, which Emma doesn't seem to notice.

Jensen claps his hands together. "Well, it happens," he says, not pressing the issue further. "So what've you guys been doing these past few days?" He looks back and forth between his two best friends.

Jared shakes his head, pursing his lips together. "Just... hanging out," he says, trying to hide his smile. Emma blushes as Jensen raises his eyebrows at her.

"So, you asked her?" Jensen asks, turning to Jared. Emma's eyebrows crease together in confusion.

"Ask me what?" She cuts in. This has to be about the thing that Jared was going to ask her a few days ago. Before her parents arrived.

Jared makes a frustrated noise, glaring at Jensen. "No, I didn't ask her yet," he says, gritting his teeth a little. "We got caught up doing other stuff. I forgot about it."

"Well, you know she'll say yes," Jensen says suggestively. Emma crosses her arms.

"Okay, if you don't tell me what's going on, I'm going to knock your heads together," she says firmly. Jensen and Jared exchange glances before Jensen starts heading towards the door.

"Good luck," he gives Jared a thumbs up before walking out the door.

Emma puts a hand up in the air. "Jared, look, if this is marriage you're thinking about—" she begins, desperately hoping he isn't planning on proposing to her. While she hopes to marry him someday, the two certainly aren't ready for that yet. They've still only known each other a few months.

"No, no," Jared cuts her off, stopping her rambling. "No, I'm not going to ask you to marry me."

Emma sighs in relief. "Oh, god," she breathes, putting a hand on her chest. "That's good. I mean, I don't mean good... I just mean— I think we'll do that someday, just not yet—" Emma sighs again in frustration, putting a hand over her face.

"You're really cute when you ramble on like that, you know?" Jared tells her with a soft smile. She sighs, looking relieved at what he said.

"Wait," Emma says, suddenly going serious again. "What were you gonna ask me, then?"

Jared sighs, shaking his head a little. "It's nothing, okay?"

"Obviously, it's something, Jared," Emma says. "Jensen knew about it, and you have been planning it for days."

"Exactly," Jared says defensively. "I've been planning it for days, and I want to wait for the right moment to ask you." Emma furrows her eyebrows as Jared takes a seat on her couch, so his back is now to her.

"Sounds awful lot like marriage, Jar," she says jokingly, shaking a bottle of apple juice up. She had it in stock in case Jensen comes over; he can't seem to get enough of that stuff. He might even like it more than beer.

"It's not marriage."

Jensen does come back over later, and the first thing he does is open the fridge to grab a bottle of apple juice.

"What the hell are you smiling about?" Emma asks in amusement as she notices the giant grin on Jensen's face. He placed his juice on the counter that is separating them.

"You'll never guess what I just heard," he begins. "Wait, Jared, have you been home yet?" He asks, looking at his friend, who is lying on the couch. His tall frame barely fits across it, which Emma still finds hilarious.

"No," Jared relies.

"Oh, so you don't know yet, either," Jensen says, giddy that he's the only one who knows the great news. "Well, I just got a call from the director, and he said we just got picked up for another season!"

Emma's mouth falls open in surprise. She gets to her feet. "What?!" She says loudly, excitedly. "You did not!"

Jensen grins even wider at Emma's reaction. "We SO did!" He says, laughing a little in happiness. Emma wraps her arms around him in a hug, before turning and hugging Jared, too. He has gotten up from the couch and moved across the room to join in on the happiness.
