"BUT FOR REAL, if you two got married, I would be the godfather, right? I mean, of course I would be. You don't have any other friends."

Emma narrows her eyes at her green-eyed, freckle-faced friend. He has been getting on her nerves for the past hour. Now that she thinks about it, he has been getting on her nerves her whole life. She just keeps telling herself that the good times outweigh the bad, to stop from strangling him.

"Whatever, Jensen," she mumbles in reply. The two stand against the impala, talking about Jared and Emma's relationship. Jensen is taking a break as he isn't in this scene, only Jared playing Sam and Katie Cassidy playing Ruby. She's a really good actress and Emma likes her, but she misses Lauren Cohan a whole lot more. Even though she was just here a few weeks ago.

"You know, we're doing a Christmas episode next week?" Jensen informs Emma. This gets her attention. She always points out that Sam and Dean never celebrated any holidays in the first two seasons, and that upset her. She thinks they deserve to do something special once in a while.

However, she doesn't seem too thrilled about this. She scrunches her eyebrows up at her friend.

"Why this season?" She asks, though she's sure she can guess why. "I mean, Dean's got like five or six months before his deal is up. I doubt Sam will be in the mood to celebrate anything."

Jensen only looks at her a moment, opening his mouth and closing it.

"You know... they aren't real," he tells her, as if telling a child that Santa Clause isn't real. Emma shoots him a glare. He purses his lips. "Jared should be over in a minute. I told him we'd be going to lunch. You don't mind me joining you guys, do you?"

Emma shakes her head and waves her hand. "Of course not." He drives her crazy, but he's still her best friend. Also, when Jared arrives he can take half of Jensen's crap and it'll be easier on Emma.

"So what about this Christmas episode?" Emma asks, the curiosity getting the better of her. She never asks what goes on in the show until she actually sees it when it airs and Jensen never tells her, but this time she's too excited.

"Nope," Jensen shakes his head. "I'm not telling you anything." Emma groans in frustration.

"I thought you were supposed to be my friend," she says, voice whiny like a kid who wants something badly. But Jensen only smiles and shakes his head silently. Emma sighs in frustration, but her face lights up when Jared comes over.

"Hey," he says, smiling at Emma. He greets her with a short kiss to the lips. A few guys from the crew are behind them and notice, whooping in a teasing manner. Emma rolls her eyes.

"Ready?" She asks, still smiling.

"Yeah," Jared says, taking Emma's hand in his and starting to walk away. The place is right down the road, where they're going, so they decide to just walk.

"That's okay, I didn't want a kiss," Jensen says jokingly. Emma hits his shoulder.

That evening, Emma enters her apartment alone, tossing her keys onto the table. She's fine with it; it's not like she needs to spend every night with Jared. Plus, she likes to be alone once in a while.

The brunette flips through her mail as she clicks the button on the phone machine to play her messages from the day. She smiles a little as she hears one from Jared, just saying he had a good time that day, and that he'll talk to her tomorrow. When he wishes her good night, she grins even wider.

The next message plays, and Emma nearly drops her mail at the sound of that voice.

"Emma, dear? It's your mother."

Her mother has not contacted her in over a year. The two have never seen eye to eye and fight like there's no tomorrow. In fact, the two haven't had a real conversation in so many years. Emma hasn't even seen her mother in four years.

"I just wanted to let you know that you father wants to see you this Christmas, so we'll be coming up for a few days," her mother says.

Emma's throat becomes tight and her eyes widen as she sets her mail on the counter, no longer concerned with her bills.

"We'll arrive on the day before Christmas, and leave the day after. If this is inconvenient to you, call me back. Good-bye."

Emma simply stands rooted to the spot, unable to comprehend what just happened. Her mother... coming here? Impossible. When Emma told her she was moving so she could stay closer to Jensen, she laughed and said that the city is no place for a girl like Emma.

But now, she's coming here? To celebrate Christmas? With Emma?

There is no chance in hell that will go right.
