"NO. NOWAY in hell," Jensen argues immediately, shaking his hands about. "Jared knows better than that. And he loves you, Em. Why would you think he's cheating on you?"
She has a tissue in her hand now, wiping the corners of her eyes to try to stop the tears before they can fall. "My friend from work said she saw him with another girl. And, it sounds like it was Genevieve."
"Gen– wait, Genevieve from the audition?" Jensen asks, still in disbelief about the whole thing. Emma only nods.
"And the girl from work, said she saw them kissing," Emma says, tearing up again. Jensen frowns, determined to defend his friend.
"She might have been wrong," Jensen says. "Maybe she saw someone else. Someone who looked like Jared."
Emma doesn't say anything. She looks away, sniffling. Jensen sighs. "We're gonna get this sorted out, Em. Don't worry."
She doesn't say anything. Jensen walks out the door.

Emma isn't sure how long she's lying on the couch for. She gets up a few times to go to the bathroom. She knows she should eat something, but she's still a little shaky from crying and the fact that her relationship with Jared might be over. Jared, who she has grown to love so much in almost a year now. She's not worried about food right now.
Lying around for hours gives her time to think. She remembers when they went on a date the other night and how she smelled something like perfume when she got in Jared's car. This results in her sobbing even more, thinking that the perfume might have been from Genevieve.
This time she cries so much she falls asleep. Crying always wears Emma out.
She wakes up a few hours later and notices some things different about the apartment than when she went to sleep. The light in the kitchen is on and Emma is covered with her favorite warm blanket. She rubs the sleep from her eyes and looks around. It doesn't look like anyone is here.
Emma tenses up as she hears some fumbling with the lock outside the door. It opens and Jared comes inside with two grocery bags. He smiles a little noticing Emma is awake. "Hey. You're awake," he says.
Emma narrows her eyes as she remembers her state last night, how she cried for a long time worrying about their relationship.
"You were running low on a few things, and I was going to the store anyway, so..." Jared trails off seeing Emma looking at him in disbelief. He furrows his eyebrows a little, but not in confusion. He looks a little guilty, which is exactly how he should be feeling.
"I guess I have some explaining to do, huh?" Jared asks, running his hands through his hair a little and shifting. Emma doesn't say anything still. She's afraid if she starts talking she'll end up yelling at him, or else she'll start crying again. She doesn't want to cry anymore.
She scoots back on the couch, pulling the blanket against her. "Okay," is all she says. Her throat is dry from not talking, or else from the crying.
"Okay," Jared sighs, sitting down in the chair next to the couch. "About a week ago, Gen came over to my apartment and I was helping her rehearse for the first episode of season four. It was only for a couple hours, and then I took her home. Then we ran into each other at the mall the other day and we had lunch and we spent like an hour just talking. About work stuff. And... then she kissed me."
Emma looks away, her bottom lip quivering slightly. She swallows, trying desperately to contain her tears.
"And you know, I was surprised at first, but then I pushed her away," Jared says. "I told her I didn't–"
"Will you just stop talking?" Emma asks, her voice coming out harsher than intended. Jared looks a little surprised hearing her talk for the first time tonight.
"Emma, I'm sorry," Jared says softly. "You know I love you. She doesn't mean anything to me."
A few tears fall down Emma's cheeks. She's frustrated because she can't tell if he's lying or not. "You should go," she finally tells him.
He frowns. "Emma–"
"No you need– you have to go," she says more firmly. "I just think we need some time apart, you know?" It breaks her heart as she says these words, but she knows she needs it.
Jared looks at the floor but then nods a little. He's already made Emma so upset, he doesn't want to anymore. It's best to just do what she wants.
"Okay," he says. "If that's what you want." Emma's heart aches as he gets up and says goodbye. She wonders if she just made a big mistake.
Right before walking out of the apartment, Jared turns to her and says "I'll wait for you. However long it takes."
Emma cries again.

"So that's it? It's over? Just like that?" Jensen asks in disbelief the next day as he is buying Emma lunch. Jensen has the day off so he's spending it with Emma. This breakup is especially difficult on him, because it's his two best friends, and they're both heartbroken, so he has to try and divide his free time up equally between the two of them.
"I don't know," Emma says sadly. "I just need some time to think, you know? I mean, I don't want it to be over. More than anything. I love Jared."
Jensen purses his lips together. "He loves you too, you know," he tells her. Emma looks at him a moment but doesn't say anything.
"What about Genevieve?" Emma asks Jensen. He frowns.
"Emma, they hardly know each other," Jensen says.
"Yeah? Jared and I slept together on our first date. We 'hardly knew each other'," Emma points out. "Who's to say the same thing isn't happening again?"
"Because!" Jensen exclaims. "You guys have put like, ten months into this relationship! That's almost a year, Em."
Emma rolls her eyes.
"My point is, Jared's still nuts about you after all this time, and I don't think he'd turn tail on you for some chick he just met," Jensen says.
Emma raises an eyebrow. "Okay, Dean."
"Seriously," Jensen continues. "She's a nice girl, but that doesn't mean he's going after her."
"Well, why wouldn't he? She pretty and smart and an actress, which is more in common than I have with Jared," Emma explains.
"See, now you're not being fair," Jensen says.
"How am I not being fair?!"
"Because of you and me," Jensen explains. "We spend so much freaking time together, and Jared has never accused you of cheating, has he? Because he trusts you that much. And now, you don't even trust him a little."
"He kissed her," Emma says sadly.
"She kissed him," Jensen corrects her.
"You really believe that?" Emma asks in disbelief.
