Prologue

Flight.

A wonderful thing that everyone wishes to do. Everyone wishes to be able to fly.

A select few are born with the power of flight, but it comes with a price. When a new Volatus is found, they are ripped from their homes at the young age of two, and are trained to protect the world.

From what, is another story.

Monsters.

Horrid creatures with an obsession of human flesh—but they'd prefer a nice wing from a Volatus. They spawn in dark alleys, in places of danger, in places of no sleep, places of illegal activities. It is up to the Volatus to protect the humans.

Volatus are creatures from different places, from different homes, with different faces, but they all have one thing in common. Obeying the Natu.

The Natu isn't specifically the oldest, but the one who has fought for that position. A fight to become Natu is rare, since many previous Natu's choose their successor as soon as they can.

Natu's have a special talent. They can remember past lives, and they can remember their soulmate, even if their soulmate can't remember them. Once you become a Natu, memories flood into your brain, causing them to faint and remember all of their past lives. Yes, life as in plural. Natu's are the only Volatus who can be reborn.

Natu's can also read a dialect that has been forgotten for centuries and only they can translate it. Causing them to be the leader and mission planner for everyone.

Finally, the year is 2017. A Natu is still in place, she was placed by a previous Natu, and she has remained in power since 2002. She was only 7, but no one could deny the strength she had. Nor could they deny the powerful bond she has made with 6 other Volatus.

Diana, named after a powerful Volatus that died in battle during Ancient Rome. Yes, she is named after, what others called, the goddess of the moon. She is the current Natu of the 21st century. She deals with swords and katanas. Her arms are decorated in battle scars, a dark line along her jawline.

Candy, Diana's right hand woman. Also the next Natu if Diana were to die. She is the medic for the Sacred Seven, a nickname that was placed on them after saving multiple cities, multiple times. She knows everything on how to heal others, but also how to kill others without leaving a trace.

Arianna, the camouflage expert. One glance around the room and she can find six, seven of she looks hard enough, hiding spots. She is a silent killer. She gathers information that can, quite literally, kill the opposing team.

Marisol, the fighter. She has studied several fighting techniques. She is not to be messed around with. I would tell you to ask anyone, but they're gone. Marisol has mastered the art of killing monsters barehanded. The only tool being a chain to lock someone in place.

Esmeralda, the long range expert. She deals with bows and arrows. She knows how to kill with one shot. With the help of Arianna, they are a deadly duo. Esmeralda is the youngest out of them, but she isn't to be joked about. She can shoot you in one. Clear. Shot.

Angel, the magi. She knows the most spells out of everyone and knows how to use it. She can use her magic as a shield, or as a weapon. It all depends on how she feels at the moment. She is the quietest our of all of them, almost as quiet as Arianna on a mission but her silence is deadly.

Kylie, the dark magi. She was brought on account of Diana. Kylie worked for the underworld, forced to pay off a debt to the king. She excels in dark magic, summoning dead soldiers and overpowering groups in seconds. Only person to help Diana control her is Angel. Kylie was once evil, but after finding her way out with the help of Diana, she is the final puzzle piece to this group.

Kylie completes the Sacred Seven. And they fight alongside each other at all times. They protect the world with the help of other Volatus'. But today, they have to protect two groups from what they witnessed.
