Seokjin didn't know how he felt. He felt numb for one, he felt numb looking at his blood filled hands. Abri's blood. He couldn't cry since he felt dry and empty. No—that's a lie. He felt guilty. He felt guilty that Abrihet died protecting him. She died too soon, but yet Seokjin reacted too late. Seokjin could faintly hear a buzzing around him, murmuring of voices that he's sure are talking to him but he can't bring himself to answer. He can't bring himself to think of anything else besides the whimpering voice of Abrihet, telling them a soft, 'I'm tired.' He can't stop hearing her yell that resonated in his brain and he can't stop himself from blaming himself.

Candy's face came into view and where once Seokjin would compliment her, he can only remember Candy's glossy eyes as she carried Abrihet away, a limp hand hanging and swaying with each step. Diana followed her after that and Esmeralda took them to the shelter they were ordered to go to by Abri. Marisol wasn't doing well, somehow she migrated to Youngjae's arms. Jackson seemed to be in shock and the silence was deafening. It pounded into everyone's soul and marked a dent. Jeongguk looked at the door and swore that he saw lime green wings fluttering out of the room.

"Jinnie?" Candy tried once more to gain his attention, but to no avail. Candy placed a hand on Seokjin's arm and decide to lead him to the bathroom, to help him clean his blood filled hands. Seokjin let her drag him away, he couldn't feel his legs move and was surprised that he could actually walk. They entered the restroom and Candy guided his hands under the warm water that fell slowly. Seokjin felt as if this wasn't real. He didn't feel like it was real when he held Abri's bleeding body, and he still didn't think it was real as Candy washed the blood away from his hands; quick, soft fingers massaging the blood away.

"How?" Seokjin suddenly asked. Candy jumped slightly, not expecting him to talk. His voice sounded hoarse, and raspy, making it seem hard that he was actually a singer.

"How what?" Candy asked softly, turning off the water and grabbing the towel.

"How can you not cry when you held Abri's dead body in your arms?" Candy froze, the towel fell from her hands and they began to shake. Seokjin stared at her curiously and he noted how her eyes became downcast.

"Death is common. It's expected while being a Volatus and... and I've carried many dead bodies before... Abrihet is...was a good warrior. And-and the reason I'm holding strong is because I'm supposed to be the next Natu...I can't show weakness..."Candy said, before softly adding, "even if I'm broken inside."

A week passed and Seokjin and Candy became closer after that fateful day in the restroom. Seokjin couldn't forget Candy's last words and he guesses this is why he's in front of Diana.

"Can I talk with Candy?" Seokjin asked Diana one day. Diana glanced up from the papers she was signing, the papers meant for Abrihet's funeral.

"Yeah, just...just give me a minute." She said, putting down the papers and looking down before looking back up, her once soft eyes being replaced by cold set eyes. She walked into his room and quickly did the spell used for communication.

"Yes Natu Di--Seokjin?" Candy said looking surprised.

"Ye--yeah. It's me..." Seokjin finished lamely. He didn't know why he wanted to talk to her, but he felt a little at peace just seeing Candy's face.

"Are you okay? Why'd you call?"

"I--I missed you Candy." There, the elephant was out and Seokjin took notice of how Candy's eyes softened. Ba-dump. Seokjin didn't feel normal, he didn't feel right, but when he saw Candy smiling at him softly, he smiled back with ease.

Candy didn't want to be here, not again. She's been to this graveyard too many times to count, she's been mourning too many people, she's shed too many tears. Candy walked briskly as she passed gravestone after gravestone and Candy couldn't stop the tears.  She couldn't stop the want to run away, she couldn't stop the burning desire to yell, run away from the responsibilities she must hold on to. She has to stay, however, and she has to fight in the honor of Abrihet, in the honor of Apollo, in the honor of... Seoungwoo. She can't let him down, she can't let anyone down. Her eyes shifted to her friends and the two groups that stood around the small, new gravestone.

All the Volatus here were dressed in armor, to signify that Abrihet was a warrior, she was relentless, and hyper to learn; always bringing a smile to anyone's face. Jackson looked lost, even though he hadn't known Abri for so long, she quickly became a younger sister for him. Abrihet had that way with others, she had a way to make others love her and feel like they weren't scared of dying every moment of their lives. Abrihet held them together.

Candy moved to stand next to Diana as Diana started the last blessing as they called. A blessing done to have that person be reborn as a normal human, so that they could live in peace. Peace that everyone has been waiting for far too young. Candy bowed her head as Diana finished, Diana's voice sounding far away, even though Candy was right next to her. Candy glanced up and her eyes zeroed in on Seokjin, who seemed to be glaring at his hands.

——————————

"Candy-- is-is this allowed?" Seokjin asked Candy when she pulled him away from the funeral reception. Candy inhaled deeply when she saw how suspicious this looked. Candy didn't say anything, but her eyes were burning. Another lump in her throat, another tear burning her cheek, another day she has to pretend that she's okay.

"Candy...?" She whimpered at her name passing through his plump lips and crumbled. She told him everything, from when she first became friends with Diana, to how many funerals she has gone to and to what she wished her life could be like. Seokjin hugged her tightly, since he had no idea what else to do. Candy felt safe in his arms, his scent making her feel at home. So she told him more, from internal struggles to how hard it was for her to accept the death of one of her closest friends. Candy wore her heart on her sleeve when she was with Seokjin. She told him everything, and he told her everything. Candy may have been broken with grief, but Seokjin is helping her. Piece by piece.

————————

Seokjin huffed as he, once again, tried to do a simple spell that causes others to fly back. It's a pretty destructive spell, and no one is surprised that Namjoon was the first to get it down. Diana already forbade him from doing the spell however. Seokjin tried once again, and let out a sigh of defeat.

"Hi Jinnie! How's the spell going?" Candy asked, her wings folding behind her. He huffed in response, and Candy only laughed. "Here, let me help you," Candy said, moving next to him. Her small hands grabbed Seokjin's large ones and guided his hands into position. Ba-dump. There it is again. The feeling in his chest. It kept bursting and pumping, until--

BOOM

Diana looked over at the large boom and saw Seokjin smiling proudly at the destroyed target he was shooting at. Candy laughed and stayed talking to him. Diana glanced at Namjoon who was sitting on the sidelines since he wasn't allowed to do the spell inside. She sighed sadly and looked back at the laughing faces of Candy and Seokjin.

"At least you found your soulmate, eomma." Diana whispered, too soft to be heard by anyone but Namjoon. He looked up at this and caught Diana looking at the two. She glanced back at Namjoon and smiled softly. He smiled back with ease.
