Chapter Twenty Two:

This time we all flew to the island. It was a shock at first right before we left, since my wings changed.

Instead of them folding against my back they would just appear. It was…weird. And they were almost twice the size and looked like they had tattoos on them like my hip had. I didn’t like it too much at first since it was yet another change but once I got in the air I had to admit I liked it.

Gavin flew on my right side and Angel flew on my left. We didn’t stop till we got to the island and by then it was midday the next day. I landed softly on the sand, Gavin landed wobbly and Angel landed loudly.

We looked around for a second and tried to listen for anything but neither of them heard anything. I did though, he was running. He probably doesn’t remember anything or know why he cant fly away. Guilt filled me and I set off towards him.

“Blake! Stop. It’s Shane.” I called out to him. He looked behind his shoulder at me and stumbled to the ground, from tripping over a tree root. Angel laughed softly before shutting up and helping him sit up.

I touched him and gave him his abilities back, “sorry, the last time we saw each other you were trying to kill Angel and me.”

He looked up confused and looked back at Gavin before me again, “I don’t remember that. Last thing I remember is running from a man in black. He didn’t react to my persuasion and tried to cut me. I got a feeling he wanted to cut me, not kill me so I ran. But I don’t remember after that.”

“Don’t worry, you’re fine now.” I soothed, using a tone that almost sounded hypnotic, even to me. “Just relax and breath.” He calmed down pretty quickly and settled against a tree.

“Thanks Shane. I didn’t know what happened, I thought I was trapped and someone had put me here.”

“Someone did, only because I saved you.” I remembered my dream. “In a dream, oddly. And they couldn’t use you anymore so they put you on the beach.”

“Oh.” He went wide eyed for a second before checking himself out.

“You got hit in the back, that’s how you were enslaved.” I said, “Whatever they put in that toxin makes you change and then become a slave for them. I got nicked by you but I changed into a… hybrid, I guess you could say and I didn’t become a slave.”

He looked at me in shock, “Oh, wow.”

“Yeah.” I sighed and got up, “Good luck Blake, and if you see any more of us warn them and tell them not to trust anyone if they have the look to them or you can see a tattoo on them.” We locked eyes, “And make sure you tell them im the only one who overcame the toxin. No one else will be able to. I know that now.” He nodded and we got up to leave. I just had to get used to the fact that I had immunity and it was only in my DNA so everyone else had to be careful.
