Chapter Seven:
The sun began to peak over the horizon through my window, I always enjoyed this part of the day, along with the sunset. When my instincts told me it was 5:30 I began to get ready, but let Gavin sleep in. I got some of my mom’s clothes again and also some of my father’s for Gavin.
While I got out of the shower I noticed my facial features began to shift, great a new ability. Though I didn’t mind new ones that popped up, it’s just not when I have a guest and I don’t quite have control over it. This one, I actually liked and now I didn’t have to wear contacts. I could change my eye color and the shapes, it made me feel really good about this.
Today I decided to tease my hair into a scene look and my make-up made my ‘brown’ eyes pop. My look paid off, I looked dangerous. When I looked back at my clock it was 6:30.
“Gavin, it’s time to wake up.” I called into the theater. He didn’t make a sound, I went over to him. “Gavin.” My head was right in front of him when he shot up in surprise.
Our foreheads smashed together and I pulled back in pain. “ Ouch,” I sighed and looked back at him.
“S-sorry. Are you okay?” Gavin got up and checked out my head, I could feel a bruise was going to be there.
“Yeah, I’m okay.” I pushed some clothes into his hands, “go get dressed.”
He looked at the clothes in his hand, “Your kidding right? I DON’T wear leather.”
“Well I guess you do now.” I smirked and pushed him into my bathroom. “Now get ready and suck it up.” He opened his mouth to say something but I shut the door in his face and laughed. Gavin came out ten minutes later with wet hair and the jacket on him, his glare set his face and he looked hot.
I couldn’t help but giggle and his glare darkened and a small blush lit his face, “No laughing dammit,”
“I’m sorry, you look good.” I giggled again and helped fix his collar. His heat beat quickened under my fingers and my smile grew as he brushed hair out of my face. He opened his mouth to say something but closed it just as fast, much to my disappointment. I knew exactly what he was thinking, and I wish he had said it. “Come on.” My voice was flat and I caught his confused feelings. Its just weird how he could kiss me last night and suddenly he’s too chicken to say something to me.
We walked out as I grabbed us each an apple, I looked longingly at the knives and my cabinet full of junk food. Gavin held the door open for me, looking off with a blank look.
I don’t really know what happened but by the time I actually got to the bus stop I was laughing with Gavin about a song called ‘All Signs Point to Lauderdale.’ Then IT happened. All I know is I’m laughing one second and then I’m crumbling to the ground in pain. The pain was everywhere and all I could think was, where is Ryan? Gavin leaned over me and was trying to get me to look at him but I passed out from the pain seconds later.
Once I woke up, the pain was gone and I felt fine. I looked at my surroundings, the living room couch. Turning my head slowly I saw Gavin jump up and lean closely towards me, “Are you okay? What happened? Should I call a doctor?”
He stared with so much worry I couldn’t help but smile, “Im fine, I just fainted is all.” Gavin didn’t look convinced and gave me an are-you-kidding-me look. I grinned and patted his shoulder, “Thanks for not calling the doctors.”
Gavin looked like he was thinking; obviously he was, mostly about why he hadn’t called the doctors. His mind wandered to when we were kids and I saw an image of a feather. I stiffened, the feather in his mind looked like mine.
