"Now then! Let's make every second count."

Alexander's point of viewMy eyes opened to the sound of the door being swung open. It was (y/n).
"Guys!! You all have to come see what I found."
She looked excited and messy. Her dress was covered with bits of dirt and her hair was tangled in a mess.
I was the first one up and ready so I sat and recalled last nights events.
We were all playing a game called eye spy when the storm hit.
I was terrified, but didn't want to show it. Everyone except (y/n) knew
About my phobia, but none of them knew how bad it was. Every time I saw lightning or heard thunder, I flinched, even if the storm itself wasn't very heavy.I sat in the back of the group so no one really saw, which I didn't mind. Their company offered me some comfort anyway.
After a while of sitting and listening to the rain, we all fell asleep at Laf's house.
"What do you want to show us?"
She grabbed mine and John's hand as she pulled us along at almost a running pace.
She led all of us out of town and past a grove of trees.
When she stopped, we were on a hill with a large oak tree towering over us. Below us was an open field with flowers and grass.
"Isn't it beautiful?"
Her eyes glowed as she looked at the sight. Personally, I wasn't moved by nature much, but as the sun was rising, the light illuminated her face. It was so full of excitement and wonder.
She was beautiful. I looked at the other three and they were all staring at her too.
"It's so amazing. I'm going build a little house where you can all visit anytime you want. I'm going live and die here."
Damn. Her eyes sparkled. She was radiating with love, curiosity and overall positive energy.
I looked at the others again. When we all made eye contact, I could tell we were all thinking the same thing:
I am going to protect (y/n) with my life. No one will ever hurt her...
Ever...
I promise....
We promise.

(Y/n) point of viewOn the way back I told them a bit about the future. John was very happy to hear that slaves were not only free, but equal too.
The conversation went a lot better than that night on the road to Laf's.
We all walked side by side, laughed, told jokes, then laughed some more. It was a lot of fun.
Sadly, all good things come to an end. We spent the rest of the day going over Alex's checklist of things they need to pack. It was a nightmare.
